I get the impression DC is moving toward hardcover-first releases for most of their "big guns." I guess they must have decided the relaunch with Waid was a good place to start, and didn't want to change plans after the story didn't resonate with readers.

The hardcover release was bizarre... the story wasn't very strong and there weren't any truly significant events in there, except for the continued development of Wally's "Flash family". I stared at it for about 2 minutes, reading the back cover and what not, but it was bound in plastic so I couldn't see inside.

Does anyone know if there are any special features in this? Interviews, storyline notes, unseen art? I'm baffled as to why I, a hardcore Flash fan, should even buy this.

What do you think are the odds that the Wild Wests will be released in soft cover? I don't really want to buy the hardcover if I can avoid it. It would mess up the Flash section of my bookshelf.

If I recall correctly, the first issue of the Wild West's storyline (Flash #231) involved a recap of Flash history in the form of a news story, yet the recap did NOT mention the death of Bart Allen which just happened at the time.
