Yeah, I’ve got to agree with you there. I’ve always liked the contrast between the comparative ‘happiness’ of the Flash family and the ultra-depression of the rest of the DCU.

A year ago I would’ve thought Johns on the script would’ve been the perfect set up for the movie! Now, I just hope he doesn’t use that “murdered parent(s)” crap in the script for the film! The best thing about Barry, in my opinion, is that unlike many of his JLA cohorts, he was a good guy without having to be traumatized into battling injustice! For all the good writing Johns has done, this one thing may be the worse thing that has happened to the Barry character.

So Johns was brought on as a consultant last fall, which was before Flash Rebirth started. Do you think that Warner Brothers desire to make darker superhero movies influenced Geoff to retcon in the murder of Barry’s mother? Basically by giving Barry a new tragic back story it allows Warner Brothers to make their “darker” flash movie without the fan boys screaming “That never happened in the comicbook!”

Eh, I can’t get excited about this. Seriously, Geoff Johns has so much on his plate as it is, he shouldn’t be doing more. Not that I don’t like a lot of his work, it just would be nice to see some other writers for a change.
