Batman: Brave and The Bold Flash Action Figure

Somewhat related to Kelson’s Article about Batman: Brave and The Bold, it has been pretty much confirmed that Barry Allen will be getting an action figure of his own in the Brave and The Bold toy line.

Oddly enough instead of showing up at Toy Fair 2010, fans caught their first glimpse of the new Flash figure on Target.com. According to the Batman: Brave and The Bold Facebook Page, Mattel didn’t reveal it at Toy Fair on purpose. A sensible decision to try and save some of the new merchandise for the upcoming New York Comic Con. I hope they have a Jay Garrick ready to go as well, because to date he is the only Flash that we have seen guest star on the show. Not really fair for Barry to get a figure before Jay especially when Jay appeared on the show (and in the comics) first. Then again I don’t think Jay would mind that much once he saw this thing:

I don’t know about anyone else (or if anyone else can remember back as far as this) but does this toy remind anyone else of the Centurions from back in the day?

You know these guys:

As you can probably surmise I’m not too thrilled with the overall look of it. But looking at it from a kid’s point of view I could definitely see myself having fun with it. Not myself as a kid, because I was that kid who always questioned why Batman was wearing orange or neon green when he was supposed to be a creature of the night. I’m talking about your average kid who isn’t quite as nit-picky as I was.

I guess it can’t be much worst than this:

It took me a couple of years to finally break down and purchase that thing and it was only because I was in a collectors drought and hadn’t gotten anything new in months. Still every time I look at it I have to pretend that Flash somehow lost his powers and this is his way of making up for it or some nonsense like that. Yeah. Don’t ask.

I will still end up picking it up but if I can help it I will probably drag my feet a bit before doing so. Although with the Flash’s recent resurgence in popularity due to The Flash: Rebirth and the upcoming Brightest Day storyline coupled with the high demand of the Brave and The Bold toy line I might not have a chance to.

LOL! I still can’t get over that Flash-on-a-motorcycle toy. It’s like putting Superman in an airplane, or Iron Man in a tank.

    Or Aquaman in a submarine.

(And I half-suspect that, if I looked, I’d probably be able to find all of them.)

They LOVE posting that Flash-on-a-motorcycle at 4chan :>

Hey, if Barry’s getting a figure in that line, I want a Top in that line too. Sportsmaster got a regular-sized BATB figure *and* Action League chibi!

It was Biker Mice from Mars. And yeah, Barry DOES remind me of the centurions. I am also guilty of owning the 2 versions of Flash on a morotcycle.. and glider… I wonder if they run on speedforce? I know I do! (tee-hee)

As said when I first saw this thing, the only thing that would make a better BtBatB figure(for me to play with >_< ) than Barry on roller skates with a rocket launcher would be Punk!Music Meister with his riding musical note.

Centurions is a pretty apt comparison for the line, actually. Unfortunately, the only toy I have from the line is the Atom (I will pretty much buy any Ryan Choi toy), who came with what can only be described as the most bizarre weapon I’ve ever seen. I think it’s supposed to be a bunch of subatomic particles bound together with energy to make a flail weapon, but it’s more a fail weapon.

You do know those parts come off, right? It is one of the more accurate sculpt sof a charcter I have seen! And besides, anything is better than that godless interpretation of Wally West on “JLU.”

@Lia: And then we need a Action League Chibi Flash. It would only be fair.

@Flash Fact: I know the parts are removable but then it leaves unsightly holes in the arms of my action figures that can only be explained with some form of zombie or maniacal ice cream scoop man. I’m not really thrilled with the articulation of the JLU line of toys, but the designs themselves are top notch for the most part(excluding Galatea and Captain Atom). I wish they had a good way to add better articulation but I know it’s too late to go back and change all of those figures.

@Yrani: Don’t feel too bad. I’m sure plenty of other speedster fans just like us have fallen into the trap as well.

@Zach: I really dug the Ryan Choi series. I wish they would have given him more time instead of forcing the return to the Silver Age yet again. I think it’s cool that he’s being allowed to stick around instead of being killed off or something though. Am I right in hearing news of maybe a backup feature somewhere down the line or am I mistaken?

About the Centurions: I’m actually surprised that no one’s pointed out the phallic cannon-thing on the one on the left.
