Preview is up for Flash #26 (next week)

Flash #26

Flash #26 comes out next week, but you can see a preview of the issue at DC Comics’ blog.

Barry Allen is hot on the tail of Spitfire after investigating the death of his mentor, Dr. Carlson. But to catch the villain responsible, The Flash must figure out how to use his powers in the one place where they do him little good: the sky! Spitfire is sure to escape unless The Flash can go airborne! A special standalone issue, THE FLASH #26, written by Christos N. Gage and illustrated by Neil Googe, will be available in stores on December 31.

This is a done-in-one story. #27-29 will be a three-parter guest starring Deadman, by Brian Buccellato and Patrick Zircher. The new post-Forever Evil creative team hasn’t been announced yet.

The art seems okay (based on a single example), but the irreverent part of me is wondering why he doesn’t call Superman, Wonder Woman, Green Lantern or some other flying hero?
Or are we still in Forever Evil?
Wait…if we still in Forever Evil is this story taking place in another universe.
(See? This is why I hate xovers that go on for far too long.)

That’s actually addressed in the preview pages.

As far as Forever Evil and the rest of the DC line, my impression is that those series that aren’t crossing over with it take place before the event, and will jump forward when it’s over.

Finally got to see the Preview pages (the linked site wouldn’t work for me) and, yes, see the part about the JL. Also, the non-cover art *is* unfortunately blocky(?) Stark. Could suffer some shading that has nothing to do with black ink. Barry’s face looks downright villainous in that first scene and one of the cops looks related to an English Bulldog in the other what with that prominent jowl ink line.
        Eh.
I’ve lived with bad art before. It’s the plots/characterization/gruesome content that will determine whether I pick up the eventual trades.
