Free Fall In Scarlet or You Will Believe A Flash Can Fall! (Skydiving 04/27/2015)

“Free Fall In Scarlet” or “You Will Believe A Flash Can Fall!”

Hey Speed Readers/Viewers

So a few weeks back I celebrated my 30th birthday and to mark the special occasion I decided to try my hand at skydiving. Of course being Flash Johnson I couldn’t simply jump out of a plane…I had to do it in style! So to that end I decided to rock my brand new, CW Flash suit 2.0, with my favorite
Flashy footwear, my Adidas Wings 2.0. I figured they were more than appropriate for what I was doing and I didn’t want to ruin my slick new Flash boots.

Why skydiving? Well, after reading the William Messner-Loebs penned The Flash v2 #54, “Nobody Dies” (aka “Free Fall in Scarlet!”) many, many years ago I got it in my head that I needed to jump out of a plane in a frackin’ Flash suit.

Animated Anthem: Seems So Slow

What the heck – I figured I’d post a second video for the Animated Anthems event. This one’s a fan video by tehbasil set to “The Ballad of Barry Allen,” by Jim’s Big Ego, from the album, They’re Everywhere!. If anyone in the music industry knows Barry Allen, it’s singer/songwriter Jim Infantino. He’s the nephew of classic Flash artist Carmine Infantino!

Check back at our first video of the day, the Filmation Flash intro from 1967, or check out the rest of the Animated Anthems being celebrated today!

The Ballad of Barry Allen

Now seems like a good time to post about “The Ballad of Barry Allen.” The song tells about Barry’s life as the Flash, and how lonely it can be at super-speed. The band, Jim’s Big Ego, is headed by the nephew of legendary Flash artist Carmine Infantino, who did the cover artwork on the album.

And yes, the song’s actually good!

It’s available as a digital download on iTunes, on Amazon’s MP3 store, on Slabster and on CD. I originally bought it through iTunes, but it’s worth looking at Amazon or Slabster since the tracks are just plain MP3s. No DRM, no account activation, no need to authorize computers or stick with one company’s player—hardware or software.

There’s also a great fan music video, “Seems so slow,” that uses clips from the Justice League and Teen Titans cartoons:
