Newsarama has a 5-page preview of Velocity #1 by Ron Marz and Kenneth Rocafort.
Carin Taylor is the fastest woman in the world. At least, she’d better be if she wants to save her own life and the lives of her Cyberforce teammates. When a former Cyberdata scientist — and test subject — seeks revenge against the members of Cyberforce, only Velocity can save her friends before the clock literally runs out.
Bringing together writer Ron Marz (Witchblade, Angelus) and artist Kenneth Rocafort (Cyberforce/Hunter-Killer) for the first time. Featuring two covers by Rocafort and Chriscross (Captain Marvel).
I quite liked the Pilot Season one-shot by Joe Casey and Kevin Maguire, and I’ve been looking forward to seeing more solo adventures, even though this is a completely new team, and a 4-issue miniseries rather than an ongoing. (The downside: as well-executed as Rocafort’s art is, the covers are cheesecake-y enough that I feel like I need to hide the comic on the bottom of my stack — and avoid reading it in public!)
Velocity #1 ships next Wednesday, June 30.

DC has posted a 5-page preview of next week’s The Flash #3.
It may be BRIGHTEST DAY, but when a mysterious group of so-called heroes turns up, another Rogue ends up dead. Plus, the mystery deepens as The Flash witnesses another murder — his own!
The preview picks up the Brightest Day angle and focuses on Captain Boomerang. “Digger” Harkness discovers that he’s a bit…different now that he’s back from the dead. It’s an interesting development, but if what’s seen here can be taken at face value, I’m not sure it’s necessary. It seems like a second attempt (after Owen’s super-speed) to give a villain who throws weaponized boomerangs an extra edge. It’s an odd choice for Geoff Johns, who managed to revitalize the rest of the Rogues simply by taking them seriously.
The Flash #3 arrives in stores next week, on June 30.

DC has released a 6-page preview of the Flash Secret Files and Origins 2010, including 3 story pages and profiles of Iris Allen, Captain Cold, and Barry Allen. It’s…surprisingly decompressed for a single-issue origin story.

Interestingly, the preview still lists the book as coming out next week, even though it was missing from Diamond’s “Upcoming Releases” list on Monday, DC changed the date to April 7 on their website yesterday, and Diamond listed the change to April 7 on today’s shipping updates. I’m guessing this is a case of the right hand not knowing what the left is doing…or more precisely, the left hand changing things while the right hand is on vacation and doesn’t have a chance to update.
Update (March 29): The book is on Diamond’s upcoming releases list for April 7.

DC has released a 5-page preview of The Flash #1. The Geoff Johns/Francis Manapul series launches on April 14 (after a Flash Secret Files and Origins special this month).
It’s…better than I expected, actually. Geoff Johns is finally writing that book about speed that he always wanted to do but somehow didn’t get around to. I like Francis Manapul’s art, though I think it needs a bit more in the movement department (the Flash looks like a statue compared to the car he’s pacing). And I’m beginning to think I’d happily read a story about Iris Allen, Caffeinated Reporter (though as a journalist, I’d like to think she’d be using actual words while texting).
The preview describes the first storyline, “The Dastardly Death of the Rogues” (and now we have a definitive statement on whether “Death” is singular or plural in that title), as follows:
…coming back may have been the easy part. When one of the Flash’s deadliest foes turns up dead, can the newly-returned Scarlet Speedster scour Central City to solve the crime before the elusive killer strikes again?
DC goes on to add that they’ll be “talking more Flash” soon.
(The Source’s images sometimes don’t work on Internet Explorer. If that’s the case, you might have some success with CBR’s copy or Newsarama’s copy of the preview.)

Update: As Esteban points out in the comments, there’s a third credit on this cover: Scott Hanna. @SpeedsterSite quotes Ethan Van Sciver confirming (on Facebook), “Those are inked by the great Scott Hanna, who was kind enough to do 5 or 6 pages for me.”

IGN has posted a 5-page preview of Blackest Night: The Flash #1, due in stores this Wednesday. Here’s the final cover by Scott Kolins, complete with logo, next to Ethan Van Sciver’s cover for Flash: Rebirth #1:
Interestingly, Francis Manapul’s alternate cover turns out to be the one DC used in the solicitations for issue #3 — which means we have no idea what the real covers for #3 are going to look like!
A couple of things that come to mind reading this:
- It’s great to see Scott Kolins’ art on the Flash again.
- Nice touch to list the time-traveling Reverse-Flash on both the living and dead columns.
- Am I misremembering, or is the new “about box” for Barry’s origin (at the bottom of the splash page) more complicated than the one they used for Wally?
