Custom Gold Flash Ring

Category: Collectibles — By Kelson

Roberto Vindell sent in pictures of his custom gold Flash ring.

Roberto explains:

I’m a huge flash fan, and I’ve always wanted a ring like Barry’s. So I collected all my old gold, and my mom took it to Nicaragua along with my plastic flash ring that I got with issue 1 of Barry’s relaunch. The jeweler did an amazing job duplicating it for me. It came out awesome and I never take it off! I feel like the Flash now!

Flashpoint in June: Rings and Buttons

Category: Flash News — By Kelson

DC will be shipping Flash rings with Flashpoint #2, probably similar to the Flash rings shipped with Flash #1 last year (pictured).

The first issue of each tie-in miniseries will also ship with a promotional button featuring the Flashpoint-themed symbol designed for that character.

Flashpoint Quick Hits: Rings & One-Shots

Category: Flash News — By Kelson

Two items on Flashpoint from the last few days:

First, DC has announced Flashpoint edition Flash rings will ship with Flashpoint #2. DC previously shipped Flash rings with Flash #1 last year (pictured), and released a whole series of multi-colored lantern rings with Blackest Night tie-ins.

Second, Bleeding Cool has what appears to be a preliminary list of Flashpoint one-shots, and suggests that DC may be announcing the final list within the next week.

Spotlight: Arrobasilver Flash Jewelry and 10% off for Speed Force Readers!

Category: Collectibles, Flash News — By Devin

A few years ago I was browsing eBay (like I frequently do) in hopes of finding cool Flash collectibles when I stumbled upon an awesome piece of Flash fashion:

A sterling silver Justice League/The Flash-themed class ring! Thinking this ring popping up was a random one of a kind occurrence, I quickly snatched it up. When the ring arrived a week or so later it came with a catalog for Arrobasilver.com. I looked up the website and didn’t really see anything else Flash-related at the time, although they did have class rings for every member of the Big Seven. Nevertheless I still subscribed to their newsletter because A) The ring was gorgeous, had a great heft to it and was extremely detailed. And B) I wanted to know if and when they added new Flash stuff to their catalog.

Fast forward a year or so and I get a newsletter with an announcement for these designs:

Traditional Red and Yellow

“Dark Flash” Silver on Red

Red on Silver

And last but not least “Professor Zoom” Red on Black.

Pretty nice huh? One doesn’t have to be ultra-brazen to wear these out in public, but they still have a distinct look and unique flair to them. They run for $54.99 USD plus shipping, and with the amount of creativity, and craftmanship that goes into these pieces I’d say they are worth at least double that. Not only that but they are officially licensed by DC Comics and Warner Bros and that authenticity shows.

By the way when I asked Arrobasilver for permission to feature them they were kind enough to give Speedforce.org an exclusive promo code to knock 10% off of these bad boys. Just enter GA001 when checking out. Also stay tuned for some exciting news concerning Arroba Silver and Speedforce.org in the next few days.

Oh and one more thing:

***Slightly Off-Topic***

For those random non-Flash fans that show up here from time to time, Arrobasilver does much more than just Flash Rings. They have over 20 Green Lantern Ring designs alone that you can check out HERE, as well as other Justice League-related rings including a swanky Captain Marvel (Shazam) Ring they just released a few weeks ago. Remember: GA001 gets you 10% off exclusively so take advantage of this unique opportunity while you have the chance.

Remember, some exciting news is coming up in the very near future concerning Speedforce.org and Arrobasilver so keep an eye out.

DC Offers Promotional Flash & GL Rings

Category: Flash News — By Kelson

Following up on the Blackest Night ring promotion, DC will be offering promotional Flash and Green Lantern rings in April, linked to sales of the “Brightest Day”-labeled Flash #1 and Green Lantern #53.

The Flash rings will arrive in stores the same day as The Flash #1, on April 14.

It looks like they’ve reused the same mold and plastic used for the rings they handed out at conventions in 2008 (see right). The simple change of adding some paint to the face makes them look a whole lot better!

Alas, DC “can’t promise it’ll make you any faster.” ;-)

This should prove less controversial than the Blackest Night ring promotion, for two reasons: First, retailers only need to order 10 copies of the book to qualify, not 25 or 50. Second, it’s the first issue of a major relaunch of one of DC’s top 5 heroes, written by their top writer, spinning out of DC’s most successful event in years. I expect most retailers would have ordered enough copies even without the promotion, and they’re not likely to be stuck with stacks of unsold Flash books to trade in for the next Deadpool variant.

Now if they could just find a way to stick a tiny costume in there…

Flash Rings

Category: Collectibles — By Kelson

DC has been handing out plastic Flash rings at conventions this year. Sadly, I managed to miss the relevant panel at San Diego (IIRC it was the Geoff Johns panel, and it conflicted with Robert J. Sawyer), and I never managed to hit the DC booth at the times they were giving them out either.

Johanna Draper Carlson of Comics Worth Reading was kind enough to send me an extra that she picked up at Baltimore Comic Con.

As you can see, it’s just plain yellow plastic, but it’s sculpted. Try as I might, though, no matter how many times I hit that button on the side, it didn’t open up to release a costume. :D

Actually, I do have a Flash ring with a miniature costume somewhere in storage. DC Direct released a replica Flash ring with a stand. It’s held open slightly so that you can see the costume inside. Rather than hunting through storage, I searched online and ganked the first photo I found, from Planet Krypton.
