Quick Thoughts: Weekly Twitter for 2009-12-06

  • Somehow I don’t think this guy is taking the Renaissance Faire entirely seriously.
  • Odd: I saw the typo “Batman: Unsenn” and my brain decided it was a misspelling of Unsinn, German for Nonsense, rather than Unseen.
  • Wow, these sales figures for DC are depressing.
  • FlashForward continues to take 2 steps forward, 1 step back. Ah, well. Better than the other way around.
  • Blackest Night: Flash – @GeoffJohns0 says: “Zombie gorillas are hard to beat, but next issue has something even better.”
  • Remember that Muppets Bohemian Rhapsody video? They’re official at @MuppetsStudio #FollowFriday
  • Ack! Just saw someone use “pre-Crisis” to refer to pre-INFINITE Crisis! I need a lawn ASAP so I can start yelling at kids to stay off it!
  • Archive binges were a lot easier when webcomics hadn’t been around so long…
  • FlashForward TV schedule explained.

Wow…is that normal for sales to be this low? Or is that super low?

I’m still fairly fresh on getting back into comics and sales is something I’ve never really looked into. I’ve gotta say that I’ve bought more comics this year than any other time in my life, and I’m loving comics way too much right now. Flash Rebirth, while it’s not what I expected, has been a fun read, and even stuff like Red Robin and Shield and the Web have all been great.

I hope some of those series don’t get the can. It’s unfortunate to see how low sales are for Blackest Night. It’s a really great series, IMO. I was really expecting to hear stuff about how it was pulling in a lot of readers.

Wow…I didn’t expect to see Blackest Night’s sales described as “low.” Yeah, typically only a few comics each month break 100,000 copies, and a few each year break 200,000. From what I understand, the market has never really recovered from the speculator crash in the 1990s.
