Hey Speed Readers,

So last year retailer, Best Buy teamed with DC Entertainment to bring us an exclusive Flash Figurine based on the DC Animated straight to video release,  Justice League: DoomThe figurine was the eighth statue released up to that point.

This time around The Flash and his arch-nemesis, Professor Zoom, The Reverse Flash are front and center in the latest DC Animated straight to video release, Justice League – The Flashpoint Paradox. As a result we will be getting an exclusive Reverse Flash figurine that will only be available at Best Buy stores and Bestbuy.com:

Adapted from the Geoff Johns’ penned reality-altering crossover, Flashpoint, Justice League – The Flashpoint Paradox will be the first DC Animated release where The Flash takes the spotlight. Sure there have been some great moments in Justice League: Doom and Crisis on Two Earths but we’ve never really seen Flash in the role of the main protagonist. But while I love that the Flash is finally getting his due I don’t think that this story really paints Barry Allen in the most positive light. I wonder if they will try to spin it in some way or if they will stay true to the original ending. More than anything I just hope we get a good look at his powers and at least a passing glance of The Rogues.

Justice League: The Flashpoint Paradox is available on DVD and Blu-ray, July 30th, 2013 and if you really can’t wait another week you can watch it digitally HERE. Personally I’d rather save my money and get the figurine, so see you all in a week with pics.

So who plans on picking up The Flashpoint Paradox at Best Buy to get the exclusive Reverse Flash figurine? Please let us know in the comments below.

Thanks for reading,

Devin

*******UPDATED*******

So after work I stopped at the local Best Buy and picked up The Flashpoint Paradox Blu-ray Special Edition featuring the exclusive figurine:

Now for those wondering about the odd proportions of the figurine, you can chalk that up to the animation style of the film. While the animation can be a little off-putting at times (especially compared to previous animated efforts) overall it does the job well and some scenes look really slick.

The Flash figurine is from the Justice League: Doom boxset offered last year at Best Buy as well. As you can see it is quite different from the Reverse Flash one so we can definitely rule out any reuse. This is especially odd since most of the Reverse Flash figures on the market are simply repaints of The Flash with the occasional unique headsculpt.  The Reverse Flash figurine is a bit smaller than The Flash and even the base is a little thinner. He also features lankier proportions and a more scrunched up scowly face.

By the way for those holding out, Best Buy’s first week discount is in effect, so instead of $24.99 usd the Blu-ray/DVD combo pack with figurine will be $19.99. This also rings true for their online site and they have free shipping on top of that.

So what do you all think of the figurine?

Looks like I’ll be getting the combo pack, even though I don’t have Blu-Ray. I want that figure and I heard (though haven’t confirmed — I hope it isn’t true) that the “My favourite Flash villain” feature is only on Blu-Ray. But I hope that feature is available on the DVD as well, and I hope the figure is available in Canada!

It would probably be too expensive to make a really nice figure — given that good figures are about $20-25 these days, that’d probably make the DVD set cost more than people would be willing to pay. And the figure’s proportions are odd because the characters in the film have some pretty odd proportions too.

Huh — the figure’s proportions look even odder in your photos. It’s true the animation style is a bit odd, but I’d say the figure is far more wonky than the animation.

I’m going to be getting the figure, but haven’t had a chance to get to Best Buy yet (it’s waaaaay down in south Kitchener).

Wonky? lol I thought the animation looked a bit off couldnt put my finger on it. Though i dont know what wonky means Im fairly positive it describes it. 🙂

I’m consoling myself by way of getting the Wally West figure and a Superman (pre-52 version) book. Not even the slightest tug to look at the boxes let alone get either one.

The Mattel Signature one. (Not like there’s a lot of choices out there.) By the way, I’m still smiling from a review of the toy I saw today: reviewer used pictures of his Flash figures with humorous cartoon speech balloons. If more reviews were like that, I’d be spending all my time reading reviews! 😀 Also seriously sweating wondering when my Flash Annual 2 will arrive in the mail. Paid twice the going price what with shipping. Hope it’s well worth it because I usually don’t drop money on something before reviews are out.
