In the year 2009 I resolve to…
- Only follow books that I like, and skip the ones that are just “important.”
- Read through my backlog of unread comics and graphic novels.
- Keep up with properly boxing new comics, instead of letting them pile up for months.
- Go through my collection looking for stuff I don’t want anymore and actually get rid of it.
- Not let myself get caught up too much in flamewars.
- Update Flash: Those Who Ride the Lightning more often.
(Apologies to Comic Book Revolution for the title.)
1. Are you saying my 10 copies of Batman: Legends of the Dark Knight #1 are not important?
2. What would you read if you finished that pile?
3. I thought that was the proper method of storing books.
4. Unwanted things today become collector items in 20 years.
5. Don’t stop having fun on your blog.
6. I promise to come back more often.
1. There are books that I like reading, and there are books that fans consider “important” for some reason or another. Sometimes they overlap. Sometimes they don’t. I’m not going to let myself get suckered into another Countdown.
2. I’d move on to my boxes and boxes of unread books.
3. Boxes are easier to move around than piles, and the top books don’t get dusty.
4. Some of the unwanted things are things I’ve had for 20 years, and trust me, they aren’t collector’s items. Besides, I need someplace to store them.
Hey Kelson,
Just wanted to say thanks for bookmarking my blog on the comic feed! I admire your resolutions, it seems like comic fans are starting to feel more conservative about their comic choices in the new year.
