Upcoming Flash Books for Early 2016

The Beat has a round-up of DC Comics books for 2016, including details and release dates for four Flash Collections:

I could swear I remembered seeing something about “The Flash: Silver Age” collection before, but I can’t seem to find it. Maybe I was thinking of last year’s Silver Age Flash Omnibus? In any case, it’s yet another reprint of the early 1950s Flash stories. I’m not sure why they don’t just reprint the Flash Chronicles series, since it seems to be the same material and format.

Presumably this means that Flash: Earth One (JMS) and Multiversity Too: The Flash (Grant Morrison), both announced for 2016, will be later in the year. That makes sense, as DC hasn’t announced an artist yet for either book. (For the record, Morrison & Paquette’s Wonder Woman: Earth One is on the schedule for April.)

Anyone else find it funny how they will straight up collect the run that happens in the middle of both Waid runs but not the Waid runs themselves?

I know it’s all politics but it’s really silly watching them skirt around everything Waid wrote.

Oh well, the Morrison/Millar run is still solid and it’s nice to see it collected.

I wonder with “The Sliver Age” and the other similar-related titles, if DC is trying to emulate Marvel’s “Epic Collections” line. Having a large amount of classic stories collected in chronological order. If that is where they are going with this, I totally behind it.

Though looking at it again, the page count is higher. It just gets really frustrating to watch the same stories get reprinted over and over while others from the Gold, Bronze, and even later Silver Age remain out of print.

At least they’re filling out the digital backlist. It’s slow, but there’s progress on making the rest of the run available in some form.

Oh, totally agree about the reprinting the same stuff again and again. With this larger page count (like the Epic Collections), I hope they can cover more ground in a quicker fashion.
