Absolutely ridiculous that Mania’s suggestions for “greatest comic writers of all time” are all men and the vast majority of them are best known for their Marvel/DC super hero work.
Bob Kane? Seriously? He was good at writing his own name and little else.
What about Marjane Satrapi, Bryan Talbot, Daniel Clowes, Alison Bechdel, Posy Simmonds, Jaime Hernandez, Gilbert Hernandez, Osamu Tezuka, Lynda Barry, Jessica Abel, Hayao Miyazaki, Scott McCloud, Rumiko Takahashi, Adrian Tomine, Bryan Lee O’Malley, Taiyō Matsumoto, Charles Schulz, René Goscinny, Chynna Clugston, Bill Watterson, Leo Baxendale, Tove Jansson, Hope Larson… the list goes on.
(And most of the above draw their own material too. Hmm!)
