This mini-series is picking up steam as we get to the penultimate issue (could we make this an ongoing please?). It’s Wallace West and Avery Ho against…Conner Kent? Yes, the battle has gotten even more dangerous as the Symphonee app threatens to take over the world. Meanwhile, we will finally get the story behind it all – how this evil plot came together in the first place. Wanna know more? Follow us after the jump!
SPOILERS AHEAD!
This series takes a couple of speedsters who deserve full credit…but who feel like second fiddles. It affects Wallace and Avery differently, but this issue brings all those feelings to the forefront. Avery has been saving the day (and her friends) a lot, but doesn’t get full credit as a Flash. Wallace, for his part, has been too busy trying to prove himself to ever ask for help. He shouts at Avery, “I hate feeling like I need people!” They get the chance to talk it out – though Avery may have additional feelings she needs to talk about later. And, they team up well with Roundhouse – but the battle is far from over and we won’t see THAT result until next issue.
The other main thread for this issue is the backstory for Symphonee. It all started with an online school headed up by Sebastian Stagg. The school may or may not have been great (or even legitimate) but it brought the Mad Mod and the Fiddler together. By the time Music Meister joins the group, we have the genesis for all the mayhem we find today.
There is a lot more to this issue – you really need to read this one for yourself. If you are just jumping in you may need to grab the back issues, but this is a short series and you won’t have to spend a lot of time or money to catch up. That takes us to…
NOTES:
- The artwork is outstanding! Best of the series so far. That’s not surprising – Daniele Di Nicuolo (pencils/inks) and Andrew Dalhouse (colors) have been outstanding in anything I’ve seen from them so far. Kudos as well to letters by Simon Bowland.
- The script for this issue is the best so far – all the threads are coming together, and Jarrett Williams is spinning an excellent story with characters that have deserved the limelight for quite some time.
SUMMARY:
This is the best of the series so far – I could only wish that this would be an ongoing. I’ll give this issue a 9/10. Of course, that’s just my opinion – what do YOU think? Leave your comments below!
