Wally’s “Flashes of Insight” have served him well…so far. He has made Central City a safe place. I mean, truly safe. Absolutely nothing goes wrong in Central City. Thank you, Flash! Oh, and Metropolis is just as safe now! Thank you, Flash? And even Star City…no thanks, Green Arrow, thank you…Flash? Wally means well, but is he going too far? SPOILERS AHEAD!
Wally is about to take things too far. His “Flashes of Insight” predict bridges blowing up simultaneously in Central City, Metropolis, and Star City. And, he even sees the people who are making it happen one week from now. How to stop it? Simple. Arrest them now!
Wait, before they have done anything?
That brings Wally to Mount Everest and a committee of Green Arrow, Wonder Woman, Aquaman, Martian Manhunter, Red Tornado, and Jon Kent (before Tomorrow Man). They try to talk some sense into Wally. But, Wally is certain he is doing the right thing, even though it reeks of doing wrong. Wally doubles down, believing he has done the right thing and that people are saved…
Only, that’s not what happens next. All three bridges blow up! Wally’s “Flashes of Insight” were catastrophically wrong! Will Wally realize that he isn’t doing the right thing? Will the JL be able to talk sense into him? Will they have to fight to stop him? We’ll have to wait for next issue to learn more.
SUMMARY:
There is a definite “Minority Report” feel to what Wally is doing. He isn’t a bad guy, at least not in his own mind. Wally is trying to use his newfound abilities to save lives. But, Oliver Queen has a point – Wally is doing wrong in the attempt. There are a lot of important themes for society that we are exploring in the pages of THE FLASH, and I cannot wait to see how they resolve this one.
Ryan North continues to give us amazing storylines, and the artwork is spot on with an indie feel that translates well to a mainstream DC title. I’ll give this issue a 9/10. Of course, that’s just my opinion. What do YOU think? Leave your comments below!
