Wally and Linda are back in Central City (the Absolute Universe version). Linda is trying to convince Wally to go public as the Flash, but something tragic gets in the way. Everything is going sideways, but how? Why? Wanna know more? Follow us after the jump!
SOME SPOILERS AHEAD!
For just a moment – one fleeting moment – I thought we were about to see the Absolute Elongated Man. (Just a note, I’m a long time Ralph and Sue Dibny fan). But, that’s NOT what is happening. Ralph and Sue are just two more victims of a hideous attack that is creating grotesque monsters out of the bodies of innocent humans! We’ll learn the source of this attack soon, but for now we need to go to the East Coast Branch of the DEO.
The Director is the Absolute Universe Mister Bones, and he and Eleanore Thawne are meeting with Absolute Hunter Zolomon. This version of Zoom can move back and forth within a 1 minute window to his own future or past. They want him to go after Wally West – he suggests Simon Baz instead, but they insist Zolomon is the right person for the job. They also have another player in the field – the “old man”, who turns out to be Absolute Abra Kadabra! This version of Abra Kadabra has had his abilities augmented by Absolute Braniac. Together, they are the source of all the hideous transformations happening in Central City.
Zolomon fights Wally, with orders to kill the Flash if he wins the battle. Meanwhile, Linda and Grodd run into Absolute Kadabra – how well can THAT turn out? You’ll have to see this issue (and likely next issue) to learn more.
NOTES:
- Eleanore Thawne has more pull than we may have guessed before, as even Director Bones considers her to outrank him. And, her partnership with Absolute Braniac makes her even more formidable.
- This version of Zoom works for me – the power set is close enough to be recognizable, and he is definitely powerful enough to be a legitimate threat to Wally West.
- Please don’t let this be the “Absolute” end for Ralph and Sue – I’ve enjoyed their role in this universe and was more than a little shocked to see what happened to them in this issue.
SUMMARY:
This was a fantastic issue of ABSOLUTE FLASH! We see legitimate threats and interesting partnerships among the bad guys, in an overall outstanding story. Everything about this issue was amazing. I’ll give this issue a 10/10 – of course, that’s just my opinion. What do YOU think? Leave your comments below!
