Wally doesn’t just save the day anymore. No, he makes sure nothing bad ever happens in the first place! It’s worked in Central City, so why not expand? That brings Wally to Metropolis, home of Superman! Does Superman (Jon, before becoming Tomorrow Man) really need him? Will Wally be able to fix everything in two cities? And, what will his superhero friends think about the effort? Wanna know more? Follow us after the jump!
SOME SPOILERS AHEAD!
This is happy-go-lucky Wally at his finest. He’s figured out how to use his “Flashes of Insight” to prevent bad things from happening in Central City. Now, he is doing super-speed reconnaissance of Metropolis to do the same thing for the City of Tomorrow! He eventually meets Jon Kent and brings him along on a day-long adventure, preventing anything from going wrong at all!
Returning home, Wally tells Linda about this amazing day in Metropolis. Linda has one question that Wally should have thought about. “Honey, doesn’t most crime happen at night?” Irey has a better question – “Aren’t you kinda just doing it on easy mode?” After all, Metropolis isn’t exactly the worst city to fix.
Wally wants to go to Gotham, but the JL prevents him from doing that. So, he heads to Star City, to find a hero who is not so impressed with what Wally is doing. And, it brings about the central question of this arc so far. Is Wally’s constant surveillance of everyone’s public and private lives a good thing? Or, is it a potential slippery slope that no superhero should ever risk?
That question will be explore more in the next issue, and possibly beyond. And as that question is asked, we leave this issue and head toward next month.
NOTES:
- There is a great debate in this arc. Wally has found a way to do so much more than bring in the bad guys. He can create a world where nothing goes wrong – ever. But, what is the price for that kind of world? Is it worth the price? GA is certainly not impressed, and we’ll see more of him (and a few others) next issue.
- I love how the cameos are handled in this story. They are not just “stunt” placements – they look to be integral parts of the upcoming stories, and I can’t wait to see how this arc turns out.
SUMMARY:
This is one of the best issues of THE FLASH I’ve read lately – and that is saying something, as Ryan North’s run on this series has been great from the start. I’m giving this issue a 10/10 – of course, that’s just my opinion. What do YOU think? Leave your comments below!
