DC has released a 4-page preview of Flashpoint: Citizen Cold #2, due in stores next week.
Flashpoint: Citizen Cold #2
Citizen Cold is known by Central City as a hero. But when an entire gallery of Rogues kidnaps his sister, Lisa Snart, they’ll use her as bait to lure him into a deathtrap. Will Citizen Cold be able to save both Lisa and himself? And what does Wally West’s disappearance have to do with all of this?
Written and illustrated by Scott Kolins, FLASHPOINT: CITIZEN COLD #2 is colored by Mike Atiyeh and comes out on Wednesday.
I’m not a huge fan of making Lisa into a victim yet again (you remember my essay on the matter), but at least this is a different universe and she’s obviously a different person. Still, I hope she won’t spend the entire story crying and just having bad things happen to her.
I’m hoping there’ll be a transformative moment for her somewhere in this issue or the next.
Hope so. Maybe she’ll beat up her brother for leaving her at home with dad.
Am so of mixed feelings on this.
First Wally’s name on an advertising blurb: thrilling and at the same time my second instinctual thought is more “I’ve heard this before….where’s the beef?”
Secondly, even if Wally plays a big part in the latter of this and in part #3, the whole series is kind of moot since Wally won’t be in any books come September onward. On the other hand, this is KOLLINS and I like Scott.
So part of me wants to read this and part of me is afraid to either way it be Wally as I kind of new him or a Wally who is totally foreign to me.
Did that make sense? I’m kind of down right now and tired.
Didn’t Wally get frozen solid?
It’s been heavily implied that this experience leads to him becoming the Flashpoint universe’s Pied Piper. Alternatively, he’s working with the Piper, who would presumably start looking for him at this point.
Remember when Iris asks if Wally’s doing an assignment for his “friend”? Perhaps that friend is the Piper? Also, in Flashpoint #1, Citizen Cold makes a homophobic comment to Piper.
To be fair, Cold is a total dick here, and I wouldn’t be surprised if he makes rude comments (homophobic or otherwise) to anybody he feels like pissing off.
But I’m still on the fence about whether Wally is Piper or not. It could go either way given what we’ve seen so far.
