Mark Waid has been in the comics news a lot this week, with two upcoming series.
Newsarama Interviews Mark Waid about his Incredibles comic, launching in March. (Coincidentally, I re-watched the film this weekend, and it definitely holds up.)
Then there’s the website and T-shirts proclaiming that Mark Waid is Evil (a sentiment with which certain *ahem* posters on the DC Message Boards would seem to agree). Robot 6 breaks the news that it’s a promo for a new ongoing series called Irredeemable, about what happens when the world’s greatest super-hero turns into the world’s greatest super-villain.
This has a “Look out, Jimmy! Superman’s turned EVIL!” rating of 10/10.
It’ll be a fun book but was looking forward to Mark replacing Robinson on Superman, too.
Just thinkin’… Waid was the editor of “Mystery of the Human Thunderbolt” in Secret Origins Annual 2 (1988).
(Holy crap! 20 years ago!)

Mark Waid is a super nice guy. I met him years ago at Dragon*Con in Atlanta before he was in the big time. Really nice guy.
His writing is typically brilliant. For those that have forgotten, Mark Waid was the Geoff Johns of the 1990s. Nearly everything he touched turned to gold. Admittedly, his more recent Flash run is considered to be weaker than his original run. So be it. It doesn’t diminish the amazing contributions he’s given us.
Anyone want to trash talk “Kingdom Come”? I triple-dog dare ya.
In regard to the comic “Irredeemable”… I’m not sure whether Robert Kirkman or I should be more offended. 🙂

Hah! I kept wondering whether you were going to remark on the title over at Once Upon a Geek!
I met Mark Waid briefly in a San Diego autograph line, and got him to sign Flash #80 (start of “Back on Track”) and Flash #100 (Conclusion of “Terminal Velocity”). Sadly I don’t remember much about it. I think it was one of those long lines at the DC booth or something.
Sadly I’m WAY behind in reading the blogs I follow. Work has been killing my free time all together. It’s taken everything I have just to keep up my own blogs.
I’m trying to catch up on my back-reading bit by bit. I just came across this post from you. It’s actually the first I’ve heard about the “Irredeemable” comic.
You can bet I’ll be talking about it over at ONCE UPON A GEEK! Thanks for the heads-up!
As always, keep up the great work!
