This is it – the finale to a most impressive start to Season 8 of THE FLASH. This could also be the battle to end all battles with Eobard Thawne. We are bound to get a LOT packed into this episode, which is great since we won’t see another new episode until March 2022. What are we in for with this finale? What could change in the status quo for Team Flash? Will this finale measure up to the amazing episodes so far? Wanna know more? Follow us after the jump!
SOME SPOILERS AHEAD! YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED!
NOTE: This review is posting before THE FLASH airs in the Pacific Time Zone USA. If you haven’t seen the show yet, STOP HERE and come back after watching the episode. You’ll be glad you did!
THIS was epic! One of the hardest things to do in an event is to nail the landing. To make the last episode as strong as what came before. We got all that and more with the finale!
This episode revolved around that question, “what make someone a hero?” We see that question answered in unexpected ways from a lot of different characters. Here are some of the questions…but I’m not gonna spoil the answers:
- Thawne is fading from the timeline. If that happens, it’s final. He can never come back. Does Team Flash save him or let him die? What does that say about them if they let it happen?
- Mia Queen has come from the future in search of her brother. She is willing to kill if necessary to find him. What happens to her if she does?
- Damien Darhk is for some reason still around. As the timeline reset he was supposed to die and let his daughter live. Does he go back to his evil ways since he is still around and his daughter has not come back yet?
- Despero has seen the future and knows that Thawne is the real threat. But, is Despero still a danger to Team Flash? How far will he go to stop the threat to his future?
- And to bring this full circle. Joe West is alive! Can he use his unique perspective to pull the best out of Barry and Iris, or will they make choices that they can never take back?
This episode tests the very nature of Team Flash. If they call themselves heroes, what does that really mean? Everything, and I mean EVERYTHING is high action, high intensity, high emotional moments throughout.
In the end, there is a resolution for both Thawne and Despero. Both are surprising, and one involves some boots we’ve been waiting 8 years to see. Okay, that’s enough spoiling for tonight – go see this outstanding finale to the five night event!
NOTES:
- I never thought I would cheer for Damien Darhk, but in this event series that’s just where I ended up. His resolution is heartbreaking – and beautiful at the same time.
- The acting all around was amazing. Kudos to the whole cast – and also to the writers for a fantastic script!
- One last note – watch till the very end for an interesting take on a photo at the CCPD. It will set up a bit of what we see next March when THE FLASH RETURNS.
SUMMARY:
Tonight was a perfect way to end an outstanding start to Season 8. I didn’t know what to expect tonight, but this show caught my full attention quickly and never let go. I’ll give this episode a 10/10. Of course, that’s just my opinion. What do YOU think? Leave your comments below!
