Flashpoint Movie Update: New Script, Now With Added Wonder Woman

CBR reports that Joby Harold’s Flashpoint movie script is done. They’re still looking for a new director, after Rick Famuyiwa’s exit last November.

One interesting thing I don’t recall noticing before: According to CBR, both Cyborg and Wonder Woman will appear in the film. Cyborg had been previously attached, but Wonder Woman’s a more recent addition, reported last month in Forbes, which also indicates that Flashpoint is scheduled for 2020.

The original Flashpoint comic book featured the entire Earth-based DCU, with a Themiscyra/Atlantis war threatening to engulf the world. No word yet on Aquaman, but it seems likely at this point that he’ll be involved. And the core story was a team-up between Flash/Barry Allen and Batman/Thomas Wayne…

First Look At This Season’s CW Crossover

First off, a note that much of what’s in this post is very spoilery, particularly for The Flash and Arrow.

The CW has released an official teaser image for the upcoming season’s mega crossover, and it’s a doozy. It seemingly features a wedding between Barry and Iris, a conflict with another Earth we’ve never seen before, the introduction of The Ray, the return of Captain Cold (wearing his comicsverse visor, no less), and of course a massive team-up between a lot of different shows. We’ll be seeing the heroes’ evil doppelgangers of Earth-X, and this image also tells us a few of the people who survived the explosion in the season finale of Arrow.

The image is apparently by well-known comics artist Phil Jimenez. He brings an appropriately comic book aesthetic to the piece, which is fitting and nice to see.

The Ray will be starring in his own CW Seed series, but I didn’t expect him to be crossing over in live action too. He’ll be played in live action and voiced in the animated series by Russell Tovey.

So this is a lot to take in, and seems pretty epic! Who’s looking forward to the crossover, and what do you find most (or least) intriguing about it? Share your thoughts here.

“The Flash Reborn” Synopsis

The CW has released the official synopsis for the first episode of The Flash‘s fourth season, titled “The Flash Reborn”. It will air on October 10th.

The Flash 4×01 “The Flash Reborn
COMING HOME — With Barry (Grant Gustin) in the speed force, Iris (Candice Patton), Kid Flash (Keiynan Lonsdale), Joe (Jesse L. Martin) and Vibe (Carlos Valdes) have taken over protecting Central City. However, when a powerful armored villain threatens to level the city if The Flash doesn’t appear, Cisco makes a risky decision to break Barry out of the speed force. However, the Barry that comes out isn’t the same Barry that went in. Glen Winter directed the episode with story by Andrew Kreisberg and teleplay by Todd Helbing & Eric Wallace (401). Original airdate 10/10/2017.

Looking forward to the season premiere? What do you hope to see done with Barry’s return from the Speed Force?
