Just a quick note: Today’s DC Holiday Special ’09 does feature a Flash story, “The Flash Before Christmas” by Amy Wolfram and Daniel Leister. Surprisingly, it’s a Wally West story, in which the speedster tries to do what the rest of us do just before Christmas: Take care of a zillion last-minute tasks.
I thought this was a really well written story. Only 4 pages yet lots of spot-on character work.
(weird that wally’s earpieces were gray though?)
Also cool that Wally and the kids are on the cover.
Yeah, it was fun, though it’s weird that they didn’t use his new costume.
Odd that the story took place prior to Final Crisis, especially since Rebirth would be over by now if it had kept to schedule. It’s almost like they forgot to put this story in last year’s Christmas Special!
Still, it was a good story premise. Flash using his powers to solve ordinary life problems is always fun to read.
The funny thing about this story is that the artist, Dan Leister, and the colorist, Nei Ruffino, are the main artist/colorist team for Zenescope’s Comics “Wonderland” trilogy. The surprise is that, while Nei has currently done plenty of work for DC, including recent Blackest Night, Green Lantern, and Supergirl, this was Dan’s first time drawing a DC book. Which was a surprise for all of us, including Nei.
