The Rogues are BACK! Review of THE FLASH #14

The Flash’s Rogues have always been my favorite group of bad guys in comics. Not Batman’s, not Superman’s, and certainly none from that “House of Ideas” publisher across town. There was always something special about this group of blue collar crooks. But, different storylines over the years (particularly the New 52) made significant changes to how these villains have been portrayed.  Now, writer Joshua Williamson gets his chance to take on the best bad guys in comics…and how does he deal with all of this history? He embraces it all…pretty much beginning to end, and makes it work in a very solid issue of THE FLASH! Want to know more? Follow us after the jump!

More Characters Announced For Season Three

In addition to the information about the Music Meister announced this weekend, The Flash showrunners have also revealed details about other upcoming characters. Episodes 13 and 14 will be about Grodd and Gorilla City, and Keith David will join the series to voice Solovar. TVLine has a few more details. “One of the episodes will take place in Gorilla City [on Earth-2],” Andrew Kreisberg added, “and one of them will take place on Earth-1.”

And Solovar isn’t the only character to be announced. We’ll see the return of the Black Flash, who was transformed into that form from Hunter Zolomon at the end of last season. Comics Alliance quotes Andrew Kreisberg as saying:

“He will [be] the classic comic book Grim Reaper aspect. It’s just going to be on multiple shows. He’s a classic character and we have storylines on multiple shows that fit having him return. There’s something so scary about him, even scarier than when he was just a man because now he is the Grim Reaper, he is like the Devil. How do you stop the Devil? It presents an interesting challenge for the heroes of the respective shows in which he appears.”

Apparently the Black Flash isn’t expected to be played by Teddy Sears again, as the actor is busy in another series. And you’ll notice from the quote that the character may be appearing on several shows, which is interesting. Might he become a generalized Grim Reaper for everyone in the CWverse, and not just for speedsters?

Are you looking forward to Gorilla City, Solovar, and the Black Flash? What would you like to see done with them?

Flash/Supergirl Crossover Villain Revealed

Months ago we heard that there would be a musical crossover between The Flash and Supergirl, and people have been wondering ever since what would cause the characters to sing. It’s been reported this weekend that the cause will be the villain the Music Meister. You may remember him from the Batman: the Brave and the Bold animated series, which featured him as the singing villain in “Mayhem of the Music Meister!” who got other people to sing too. He’ll probably have the same abilities in the CW crossover as well.

In the animated series he was voiced by Neil Patrick Harris and there’s no word on who will play him on live television, but it’d sure be cool to see NPH reprise the role. However, showrunner Greg Berlanti says they haven’t cast the character yet.

Looking forward to the Music Meister? Who would you like to see play him? And who do you want to see sing in the episode? Share your thoughts!
