“The Doctor is In” Review of JAY GARRICK: THE FLASH #5

I’m likely repeating myself, but I have loved EVERY panel and page of this series! Jay and Judy Garrick make a tremendous team, and Doctor Elemental makes a formidable villain. Add an excellent plot and some fantastic artwork, and you have a series that I only wish was ongoing. This issue includes a team-up with a great fellow member of the JSA – what more do you want? Wanna know more? Follow us after the jump!

MILD SPOILERS AHEAD!

I’m purposely keeping the spoilers light here – you really need to read the issue.

We pick up from where we left off last issue, with a receptionist who turned out to be another of Doctor Elemental’s experiments gone rogue. Jay and Judy get away, saving multiple staff along the way from an explosion on the top floor – and then go to someone who may be able to help…Pieter Cross, aka the second Doctor Midnight!

That doesn’t get them out of danger, of course. Doctor Elemental’s minions arrive to start a battle. Jay and Pieter join the fray, leaving Judy safely away…or so they thought…was the battle just a distraction? What is the deal with Judy being the key to the “transformation of the world”? We’ll have to learn more next issue!

NOTES:

  • There is absolutely nothing wrong with this series. That’s a rare thing to say, but here it’s true. The script by Jeremy Adams is just one more example of why he is an amazing writer. And, the artwork by Diego Olortegui (pencils/inks), Luis Guerrero (colors) and Steve Wands (letters) continues to be perfection this issue. Again, there is absolutely nothing wrong with this series – and everything has been right!

SUMMARY:

  • OK, I’ll quit gushing here…but I’m still gonna give this a 10. Of course, that’s just my opinion. What do YOU think? Leave your comments below!
