Speed Reading: Two Worlds and More

Some Monday morning linkblogging…

Flash…

Comics Should Be Good’s Year of Cool Comics spotlights “Flash of Two Worlds” — or more precisely, the Grant Morrison/Mike Parobeck retelling of the story from Secret Origins #50. The story was recently reprinted in Flash: The Human Race.

…and Beyond!

In light of Death’s upcoming appearance in Action Comics, Comics Alliance rounds up the long history of Sandman and the DC Universe.

Update: Let me add two more here: Collected Editions has worked out the Blackest Night reading order for the trades/hardcovers, and Once Upon a Geek has also taken a stab at Death in the DCU.

Re: The post-Crisis “Flash of Two Worlds”:

Wow….I had no idea (or had forgotten) that Grant Morrison wrote it!

At the time, and to this day, I think the post-Crisis updating of the classic “Barry meets Jay” story was disappointing, and probably one of the most non-sensical changes following the Crisis. Despite all of the years of Jay playing a bigger part in Barry & Wally’s life, I still prefer him having his “own” Earth….which helps make the original “Flash of Two Worlds” story all the more magical.

It’s so good! The story is pretty good and the art is amazing! The closest we ever got to a “JSA: The Animated Series” (in the style of Batman: The Animated Series).
