I have to start with this – Jeremy Adams is killing it with this run of THE FLASH! This is the Wally West we’ve been waiting to see since 2011, and this long time fan of all the DC speedsters is absolutely thrilled! Wally has his family back, he has a familiar Rogue to deal with, and…he has a new job working for Michael Holt, Mr. Terrific. This issue has a great balance of superheroics and character development, as this first arc in the new era begins to build. Wanna know more? Follow us after the jump!
MILD SPOILERS AHEAD!
Wally is helping a team of scientists, not all of whom have full respect for the new guy. Still, Wally solves their biggest issue, by almost letting slip his experience repairing the Cosmic Treadmill. He’s given the task of installing the new wiring as the others leave for lunch. And that’s fortunate timing, because he has to deal with Heat Wave again!
As the battle comes to a close, Wally recognizes why Mick is doing all this. He’s sick, likely terminally ill. Feeling that there is no hope, Rory has turned back to his Heat Wave persona to act out his pain. Wally convinces him that there can be help, and Rory is taken to…
…well, it’s not Iron Heights. We will see Heat Wave again before long, though possibly not in the pages of THE FLASH just yet.
As for Wally, it’s family time – and it is so good to see him with Linda and the kids.

NOTES:
- The artwork is exceptional here. Pencils and inks by Will Conrad, colors by Alex Sinclair, and letters by Steve Wands. There are some OUTSTANDING panels and pages in this issue. More than a few would look great framed and hanging up in anyone’s art collection.
- There is a subplot still moving forward with that mysterious something in space. Even the power of the Sinestro Corps isn’t able to stop it. I’m sure we will see much more on that before long.
SUMMARY:
This will sound corny, but this issue actually made my day a little brighter. A great story, well told and well illustrated – and this is a 10/10 for me. Of course, that’s just my opinion. What do YOU think? Leave your comments below!
