Legends Casting Update: Immortal and Reincarnated

Legends of Tomorrow has cast Hawkman and Vandal Savage.

Falk Hentschel will play Carter Hall alongside already-announced Ciara Renée as Kendra Saunders a.k.a. Hawkgirl. Legends of Tomorrow is using the reincarnation origin, tying the pair to ancient Egyptian mythology.

Casper Crump has been cast as Vandal Savage, the main villain for Legends of Tomorrow. As in the comics, Savage is an immortal, who has manipulated history for millennia as he moves toward world domination. (In some versions, he’s been various famous conquerors throughout history, faking his own death and then starting again. In others, he’s been the power behind various thrones.)

Both Hawkman and Vandal Savage will make their first appearance in this season’s Arrow/Flash crossover before moving on to Legends.

Michael Ironside Cast as Captain Cold and Golden Glider’s Father

Via THR: Michael Ironside will appear as Lewis Snart, the “estranged, abusive father” of Leonard and Lisa Snart, a.k.a. Captain Cold and Golden Glider.

The apple doesn’t fall far from the tree, as Lewis is described as cold-blooded, ruthless career criminal. Recently released from prison, he returns to Central City with a plan that will endanger both of his children.

Ironside will appear in the third episode of The Flash season two, “Family of Rogues,” along with Cold (Wentworth Miller) and Glider (Peyton List).

Now I’m trying to remember if the Snarts’ father had a canonical first name in the comics. All I remember is a few Flashbacks and the horribly miscalculated hostage-taking attempt in Final Crisis: Rogues Revenge.

Flash TV Update: New Promo, Trickster Casting

CW has released a new promo for next week’s new Flash TV episode featuring Heat Wave and Captain Cold.

Additionally, we now know who will play Axel Walker, the younger Trickster. Dexter’s Devon Graye will play Axel. Last month, CW announced that veteran Flash actor Mark Hamill plays the older James Jesse, with Allen and Det. West seeking him out him in prison to learn how to stop the copycat villain. Mark Hamill Returns as the Trickster!

Mark Hamill as the 1990s TricskterMark Hamill, known worldwide as Luke Skywalker but to Flash fans as the live-action Trickster from the 1990s Flash TV show, will be back to reprise the role in the 17th episode of the new Flash TV series, as reported by HitFix.

Hamill joins John Wesley Shipp, the original series’ Barry Allen, who plays Barry’s father on the new show, and Amanda Pays, who returns as Dr. Tina McGee. Like Pays, he’ll be playing a different version of the character this time around:

In this new iteration, The Trickster is an anarchist terrorist con man serving a life sentence in Iron Heights who helps Barry (Grant Gustin) and Det. West (Jesse L. Martin) to foil the city-wide attacks of a wannabe Trickster eagerly following in the original’s deadly footsteps. The episode will reunite him with John Wesley Shipp who went up against him as the original ‘Flash’ on the CBS version.

It sounds like they’re bringing in both James Jesse and Axel Walker, which I think is a great move. The New 52 Trickster lost something when they tried to make Axel the original rather than someone who stole the identity and gadgets. I like that they’re incorporating the con man aspect as well, since that’s one of my favorites versions of the character.

Firestorm Jason Rusch to appear on The Flash

Quick note for those who haven’t already heard: Luc Roderique will play Jason Rusch on The Flash TV show, and will make his appearance in the tenth episode of the season.

A graduate student at Hudson University, he was part of Martin Stein’s research team on the F.I.R.E.S.T.O.R.M. project. In the DC comics, Jason takes over the Firestorm matrix after Ronnie Raymond’s death.
