Poll: Will DC launch a second Flash book after Flashpoint?

At the 2010 Comic-Con International, Geoff Johns announced that DC would be launching a second Flash book called “Speed Force” in 2011 “for all you Wally fans and Bart fans.”

With DC relaunching its entire super-hero line in the wake of Flashpoint this September, the question is: Will Speed Force be among them, or has it been scrapped like the Johns/Kolins Wally West backup stories in Flash vol.3 or the Sterling Gates-written Kid Flash ongoing book that was supposed to accompany it?

I’ve been wondering about this. At what point do you think the launch for the new DCU became a definite?

Based on JMS’ comments, it’s been something Didio wanted to do for at least a year, but the final decision was made sometime after sales came back on Superman: Earth One. He says he figured he could walk away from the monthly books because DC was probably going to reboot, so it wasn’t finalized (as far as he knew, anyway) at that point.

        I read Superman:Earth One. I didn’t like it.

I don’t know if it sold a lot of copies when it came out, but I don’t think that that would be a good comparison point to launch an entire line (or relaunch a whole publishing universe).

Tranformers 2 did great at the box office, but it was a horrible movie… likewise, you can’t asume that the different world is what people liked or that they’ll like it all the time (because then it won’t be a “different” world), and son on.

Huh. You know, that wouldn’t surprise me at all. It’s been a huge part of the *mythos* since the early 1990s, but it’s not really the core of the Flash *concept*.

Yeah, Barry only usurped it…the concept didn’t originate from his Silver Age so….it’s likely a dead idea after August. Ugh. I swear I’m most likely going to do a Didio and pretend that everything post Ignition didn’t happen on the principle that I don’t like it. If he can do it, so can I.

Hope springs eternal but I voted for how well the Flash title does in determining if Speed Force ever sees print.

If GL can have four titles, why can’t Flash have one extra????

I would have added a 4th option: “I’d rather not speculate at this point”.
Every time I speculate I leave the idiotic options out (at least the ones I consider to be idiotic), but sometimes people (DC) surprise you.

I’d be shocked if there wasn’t a second Flash book in either September or early 2012.

But I suspect it won’t be the one they were planning pre-DCU relaunch with Bart, Jessie, Wally, Jay, etc.

    If there is a second Flash title, I’m thinking it more likely to feature another AU Barry Allen. -_-;;

But what if they started an educational book series?
Fun With Science: (explosive) Chemistry! by Barry Allen
Fun With Science: Exploding Universes! by Barry Allen
How To Stab Your Relatives In The Back! by Barry Allen

I think I saw on DC or maybe ComicBloc that there’s going to be a book called Braver & Bolder (yeah, gag me), that features different obscure heroes on a rotating basis. Maybe we’ll find Wally West in this once every few years! yay! (sarcasm)

You’re in luck: “Braver and Bolder” was just the caption on the announcement. The actual series is called “DC Universe Presents.”
