“Duet” Synopsis (Flash Musical Episode)

The CW has released the official synopsis for the FlashSupergirl musical crossover, titled “Duet”. The episode will air on March 21st, with apparently a bit of a prologue on Supergirl the night before.

DARREN CRISS (“GLEE”) GUEST STARS AS THE MUSIC MEISTER IN THE FLASH AND SUPERGIRL MUSICAL CROSSOVER – Barry (Grant Gustin) and team are surprised when Mon-El (guest star Chris Wood) and Hank Henshaw (guest star David Harewood) arrive on their Earth carrying a comatose Supergirl (guest star Melissa Benoist) who was whammied by the Music Meister (guest star Darren Criss). Unable to wake her up, they turn to Team Flash to save her. However, the Music Meister surprises The Flash and puts him in a similar coma, one that Team Flash can’t cure. Kara and Barry wake up without their powers in an alternate reality where life is like a musical and the only way to escape is by following the script, complete with singing and dancing, to the end.
Dermott Downs directed the episode with story by Greg Berlanti & Andrew Kreisberg and teleplay by Aaron Helbing & Todd Helbing (#317). Original airdate 3/21/2017.

Looking forward to the CW’s version of Music Meister, and what will be done with all the singing? Share your thoughts!

‘The Lazarus Contract’ Crossover To Come In May

We’ve already seen that the main Flash title will be crossing over with Batman in April/May, and have seen the other May solicitation for The Flash. Now Comics Alliance is reporting a May crossover between the Titans, Teen Titans, and Deathstroke books, called “The Lazarus Contract”. The name’s an obvious reference to the classic Deathstroke/Teen Titans story “The Judas Contract”, but this one will at least partly pivot around the original Wally West: apparently Deathstroke has learned that Wally’s return will help bring back his son Grant from the dead. And through this, the Titans and Teen Titans both get involved.

One wonders how Deathstroke will acquire speed, and what he’ll do with it. It’s no surprise to see him pursuing the Titans and Teen Titans to get what he wants, as he’s traditionally been one of their greatest enemies. So he’s a natural villain for the first meeting of the two Titans teams in the Rebirth era, and hopefully the crossover between the three books will feel properly organic.

Flash/Batman Crossover In April-May

It was widely announced on Thursday that there will be a four-issue crossover between The Flash and Batman books this coming April/May, in which the duo will tackle the enigma of the blood-spattered button in the Batcave. You may remember that cliffhanger from the DC Universe: Rebirth issue last May, and while the readers are privy to the source of the button, the characters wouldn’t be.

The story will take place in the #21 and #22 issues of both books, with creative teams Tom King and artist Jason Fabok (Batman), and Joshua Williamson and Howard Porter (Flash). Pretty cool to see Porter back on the Flash title, even if it’s only for a bit!

CBR has more of the details on the series, including a few comments from Williamson and Dan DiDio. And here’s DC’s official description of the crossover:

“Two greatest detectives in the DC Universe unite to unravel the mystery behind a certain blood stained smiley face button stuck in the Batcave wall. However, what begins as a simple investigation soon turns deadly when the secrets of the button prove irresistible to an unwelcome third party — and it’s not who anyone suspects! This is a mystery woven throughout time, and the countdown starts here!”

Should be interesting, and one wonders who the unwelcome intruder is. It’s a shame that original Wally West doesn’t seem to be getting involved in the search too, but he’s definitely been finding some of the details over in the Titans book from Abra Kadabra, so I guess he’s still involved in his own way.

Looking forward to the crossover? What do you hope to see in it?
