“The Once And Future Flash” Synopsis

We still have to wait until April 25th for the next episode of The Flash, but the CW has released the official synopsis and a slightly different teaser for it. The episode’s titled “The Once and Future Flash”.

“The Once and Future Flash”

TOM CAVANAGH DIRECTS; BARRY TRAVELS TO THE FUTURE TO SAVE IRIS – Barry (Grant Gustin) travels to the future to find out Savitar’s still unknown identity in the hopes of saving Iris (Candice Patton). Upon his arrival in 2024, Barry encounters future versions of his Team Flash friends, who, following the death of Iris, have become very different people, profoundly impacted by their showdown with Savitar. It will be up to Barry to infuse a sense of hope back into the team, as he proves to be hero his future friends have been waiting for. Meanwhile, back in 2017, the hunt for Killer Frost (Danielle Panabaker) continues.
Tom Cavanagh directed the episode written by Carina Adly MacKenzie (#319). Original airdate 4/25/2017.

There’s a slightly better glimpse of Mirror Master and the Top in this teaser, but the synopsis suggests they aren’t a major part of the episode. We’ll see.

Looking forward to the series’ return from hiatus? What do you hope to see during Barry’s jaunt to the future? Share your thoughts!

Flash Photography: WonderCon 2017 Cosplay Roundup

I spent this past weekend at WonderCon in Anaheim for what turned out to be a fun family trip. We explored a lot, my son played old-school video games (trouncing me at Street Fighter with his advanced button-mashing technique) and alternately borrowed the camera and photobombed my pictures, my wife cosplayed as Kara Danvers and Whitney Frost, and we all had a good time.

There was no Flash panel this year, but there were Flash fans everywhere. I didn’t actually see anyone dressed as the Flash all day Friday…until I walked outside at the end of the day, and ran into three in rapid succession. Over the next two days, I saw people dressed as Barry, Wally, Jay and Jesse…comic, TV and movie costumes…Reverse-Flash…the DC Bombshells Flash…and a bunch of original variations.

These are only the ones I got on camera! On top of more Flash variants, I spotted a Gorilla Grodd and a movie-style Captain Boomerang. No other Rogues that I can recall, though. For more, non-Flashy stuff, check out my complete photo gallery at Flickr and my writeup at K-Squared Ramblings.

Flashes!
Fun fact: Reverse-Flash is looking over at my 6YO, who’s in the process of running into the frame.

The “Key” to the Future? Review of TITANS ANNUAL #1

Through the years, the Titans have had team ups with their mentors in the Justice League…and usually the meeting involves a lot of condescension and doubt from the League. Still, this is a much more mature Titans team, so they should get all the…well, at least ONE member of the League gives some proper respect from the beginning, in a story that was entertaining for now and that may have clues to future stories for the whole DCU.
