Flash TV Costume at Comic-Con

DC seems to be saving their comic book Flash news for Friday’s “New DC Universe – Justice For all” panel, and their TV news after Saturday night’s giant WB TV block featuring Arrow, Flash, Gotham, Legends of Tomorrow and Vixen.

But an exhibit on the convention floor has generated a lot of online discussion. Check out this tweet by @FlashTVNews:

It’s part of a display featuring costumes from Arrow and The Flash, including the Reverse-Flash Costume, Captain Cold’s jacket, Jay Garrick’s helmet and more.

The fact that the circle around the Flash emblem is white, rather than red, has a lot of people speculating that the costume is getting a redesign in Season Two. That’s certainly possible…but it’s also possible that they just put up the version of the Future Flash costume that we saw in the time travel section of the Season One finale.

For what it’s worth, the merchandise and promotional material — including Legends of Tomorrow posters, and a booth wall featuring leads from Arrow, Flash, iZombie, Gotham, Supergirl, Lucifer and Legends of Tomorrow — all feature the red circle we saw throughout Season One.

What do you think? Would you like to see the TV show switch to a white symbol for season two, or do you like the distinct look for the character?

Update: At Saturday’s press conference Grant Gustin confirmed that the costume is changing: “That’s a thing, yeah, I shot in the suit on my first or second day of filming in the red emblem. But, yeah, I will be in that suit pretty soon.”

Gearing Up For A New Season Of TV

As reported by Cartermatt.com, the CW has released a teaser synopsis for the first episode of The Flash‘s second season.

Following the defeat of Barry Allen’s arch-nemesis Eobard Thawne (aka Reverse Flash), Team Flash quickly turned their attention to the singularity swirling high above Central City, which fans last saw consuming everything in its path. Armed with the heart of a hero and the ability to move at super speeds, Barry charged into the eye of the singularity, but will he actually be able to save his city from impending doom?

The singularity will obviously play into the second season of the show in some way, and it’ll be interesting to find out how. We’ll have to wait until the season debuts on October 6th to find out what’s going to happen.

There are also a few new details about upcoming mid-season spin-off show Legends of Tomorrow. Entertainment Weekly suggests things might not go so smoothly for Captain Cold, Heat Wave, and their colleagues.

“They’re screwups,” Klemmer says. “Instead of tiptoeing through history, they’re plodding through it, leaving their footprints and fingerprints and constantly having to wonder whether they’re going to screw the future up rather than fix it… It’s going to be total madness.”

The link also has a look at some art for the series, which includes the Flash. Maybe he’ll be hanging around more often than we’d thought.

Are you looking forward to Season Two of The Flash? How about Legends of Tomorrow?

Flash Season 2 Premieres October 6

Flash Season 2 Premiere PicThe CW has announced the fall premiere dates for their 2015 TV season. Flash, Arrow and iZombie will all keep the same time slots as last season, with Flash and iZombie premiering on Tuesday October 6, and Arrow premiering on Wednesday, October 7.

No word yet on a launch date for the Arrow/Flash spinoff Legends of Tomorrow, but as a mid-season show, that’s not terribly surprising.

Out of curiosity, who else here watched iZombie? I enjoyed it a lot, even though it’s really different from the comic, and I’m very happy to see it coming back next year.

TV News

TVLine has new information about some upcoming casting for The Flash show. Yesterday they reported about the casting call for ‘Wendy’, and today they announced a casting call for ‘John Clark’.

Arrow is seeking an Iris West type… No, just kidding. (Too soon?) The Flash, however – in addition to Wendy – is casting the season-long role of a classically handsome, square-jawed hero in his 30s to early 40s, a slightly cynical man “with an edge.” The casting call lists the character as “John Clark,” which is obviously fake/a nod to the DC Comics letterer. Though I must wonder if one of Clark’s works hints at the character being introduced…

Some people are already speculating that this may be Jay Garrick, and I think that’s distinctly possible. With the cameo of Jay’s helmet in the season finale, he’s an obvious inclusion for the series (he’s not a character I’d like to see appear “with an edge”, but there could be a good reason for it). Or maybe it’s someone else entirely, of course.

IGN spoke with Wentworth Miller (Captain Cold) and Dominic Purcell (Heat Wave) about their roles in the upcoming show Legends of Tomorrow. The thirteen-episode series will feature them alongside heroes like White Canary (Caity Lotz), the Atom (Brandon Routh) and others, and they’re obviously different from the more more conventional heroes. In this interview, the duo speak about their characters and potential role in the series.

Which character would you like ‘John Clark’ to be?
