Flash Television Series Gets Second Season

Good news: it was announced today at the Television Critics Association press tour that The Flash series has been renewed for its second season! Its parent show, Arrow, has also been renewed for a fourth season. Much of the cast and series’ showrunners are appearing at the event in Pasadena, so there are a lot of news and interviews going on this weekend.

In other news, the CW announced a new animated series starring Vixen, but with Flash and the Arrow as supporting characters. Apparently it will be set in the same universe as the two live-action shows.

What do you think of potential crossovers between the Vixen series and The Flash? And are you looking forward to the show’s second season?

Flash of Two Shows and More

Flash of Two Shows featuring John Wesley Shipp and Grant Gustin from the 1990 and 2014 TV series.

Last week’s The Line it is Drawn post at Comics Should Be Good features Flash team-up art, including this piece by Xum Yukinori. Head over there for a whole mess of team-ups including Rainbow Dash, Cheetara, the Whizzer, the droid BB-8 from the new Star Wars, plus less speedy partners like the Rocketeer, the Spirit, the Savage Dragon and more. Also: Professor Xum.

This Week: Flash Season Zero #4

The print edition is out in stores today:

In the stunning conclusion of our first story arc, The Flash squares off against thousands of Central City citizens under the control of the dastardly Mr. Bliss! Can the S.T.A.R. Labs crew help Barry end Bliss’s reign of terror before it’s too late?

Written by: Katherine Walczak, Brooke Eikmeier, Andrew Kreisberg. Art by Eric Gapstur, Phil Hester.

Update: I forgot to mention that DC is continuing to release 3 new Silver Age Flash issues to the digital backlist each week. Flash #124, 126 and 127 (#125, “Conquerors of Time,” was already available) include such classics as the “Space-Boomerang Trap,” “Doom of the Mirror-Flash,” and “Reign of the Super-Gorilla.”

Flash TV Tidbits

I hope everyone had a wonderful holiday season and new year! TV news has been quiet recently for obvious reasons, but here are a couple of things to tide you over until the Flash television season resumes on January 20th.

Firstly, you can buy the soundtrack from the FlashArrow crossover episodes (with a little bit of music from the mid-season finale). It was released by the composer for the two shows, Blake Neely, and is available on iTunes.

Possible spoilers for an upcoming episode behind the jump.
