Flash TV Updates: Latest Trailers, More Scripts Ordered

Over the weekend, the CW released two more trailers for the Flash TV series, The Future Begins (above) and Discover (after the cut). With two weeks to go, buzz for the show continues to be very positive. The CW is confident enough that they’ve already started ordering more scripts for the second half of the season.

They’ve also released a lot of interview clips and official cast photos over the last couple of weeks — and an official description of the first episode, “City of Heroes.” (Lucky for them that title’s not being used anymore, huh?) We’ve gotten a little behind on our TV coverage here at Speed Force, focusing mainly on casting news, but you can catch up at Flash TV News or Flash Fans.org.

Flash: Futures End Preview on Uproxx

Flash Futures End 1Next week DC releases Flash: Futures End #1. Like the rest of DC’s New 52 line this September, the issue jumps ahead five years. Of course, the current storyline with the Flash of twenty years from now has him coming back in time to undo mistakes, particularly one that will cost Wally West his life…five years from today! Like last year’s Reverse Flash one-shot for Villains Month, the Flash team has managed to work the event theme into their main story instead of going off on a tangent for a month.

Flash: Seazon Zero #1 Hits Monday – Preview Up Now

Flash Season Zero Chapter 1 CoverDC has released a preview of Flash: Season Zero #1 through USA Today, along with an extensive article about the digital-first comic set in the TV series continuity.

The first arc features a group of circus performers turned supervillains by the particle accelerator incident (it sounds like a lot of villains get their powers this way). They’ll be taking advantage of the comic book format to do more elaborate visuals and “outlandish villains” that they’d never be able to get away with on a TV budget. There will also be hints about the TV show sprinkled throughout the series.

The circus troupe is apparently inspired by a group from Starman. “The few times especially on Arrow where we’ve tried to create our own villains, it hasn’t always worked out the best for us,” Kreisberg remarked, going on to say that even the smallest connection to an existing comic book character gives them something more solid to build from.

Flash: Season Zero will release a new digital chapter biweekly on Mondays, alternating with Arrow: Season 2.5. Print editions will follow the next month, with issue #1 hitting the shelves October 1, a week before the TV show debuts.

Flash #34 This Week (With Preview)

DC Comics’ website has a preview of The Flash #34, out this Wednesday. The preview and cover both focus on the present-day part of the story, which has also been showing us the future Flash as he travels back in time, righting wrongs as he goes just in case he fails to fix the key point in his own past.

In THE FLASH #34, time is getting closer as Future Flash reaches the point that broke his spirit – Wally West’s death. And Barry Allen gets one step closer to the Mashup Killer, but is the Mashup Killer still a step ahead? Look for THE FLASH #34, written by Robert Venditti and Van Jensen and illustrated by Brett Booth and Norm Rapmund, this Wednesday.

The Flash #33 arrives in stores tomorrow, and there’s a preview at Nerdist.

The only thing hurtling our way faster than San Diego Comic-Con is The Flash in this brand new exclusive preview of DC Comics’ The Flash #33 by Robert Venditti, Norm Rapmund, and Brett Booth. Because one timeline wasn’t enough danger and derring-do for our hero, issue #33 finds Barry Allen in the past about to be murdered by the very killer he’s hunting down. Meanwhile, Future Flash is fighting Future Trickster for the fate of his fair city, but the question remains: is Flash fast enough to save both timelines and prevent his future from being erased? Only time will tell, but this exclusive preview is a fantastic place to start.
