Joshua Williamson and Howard Porter have done their homework, and it shows here. There is SO much great Flash mythos packed into one issue that I am dumbfounded as to how they did it while keeping such a smooth story arc going. I’ll try to list as many of the nods to history as I can, but even still you may find some extra pieces of Flash history as you read it for the 2nd, 3rd, 4th time…and it WILL be worth the time. We are at the penultimate episode of S5 of THE FLASH. We’ve been through Cicada, and now Cicada II…and the danger has ramped up to 11 with her attempt to release a meta-human “cure” that will kill every meta in Central City. Nora is ready to do whatever it takes to stop her, as is all of Team Flash. But, there is a nagging question here…and that question is answered in THIS episode! I know it seems a bit odd to talk about a Marvel book on a Flash website, but stay with me a moment. There are two series currently running, one at DC and one at Marvel, in which mental illness has been portrayed in a major plot line. For DC, it’s HEROES IN CRISIS, with a tragedy occurring at a mental health facility for superheroes called Sanctuary. For Marvel, it’s THE UNSTOPPABLE WASP, in which the lead character is diagnosed with bipolar disorder. So, how do the two story lines match up? Follow us after the jump!
