Last month, Secret Six and Wonder Woman writer Gail Simone posted a few fiction challenges on Twitter. I responded with some Flash-related micro-stories:

Quick Thoughts: Twitter Through 2009-01-04

  • If you’re ONLY reading a comic so you can understand ANOTHER comic…DON’T READ IT. Just read the comics you like.
  • Question: Is Speedy the only character to appear in both the Timmverse Justice League and Teen Titans? (Except MAYBE Flash/Kid Flash?)
  • Working through email backlog. Again. Got it down below 300, amazingly.
  • Gleep! Found 2-year-old email from Wallyoeste with Youtube links to clips from the Filmation Flash episodes. *oops*
  • Cool short movie: Mac vs. PC – Transformers style!
  • Just picked up a bunch of Bronze Age backissues on eBay with Flash in Adventure Comics. And Hostess ads.
  • Halo and Sprocket is all over the “best of” lists for 2008 comics. I have to agree: both GNs are highly recommended!
  • Weird Al’s “You’re Pitiful” – is a homemade Trek uniform intrinsically pathetic, or is he talking about one that’s really badly done?
  • Beginning to think I’m the only person on my blogroll or Twitter list who doesn’t care about the new Doctor Who lead.
  • Misread “Wolverine: Blood Debt” as “Wolverine: Blood Dept.”

Quick Thoughts: Twitter Through 2008-12-14

  • Re-read Fray. Caught up on Buffy & Fables. Finally read comic adaptation of last year’s Beowulf.
  • Argh! Search term: “flash gordon and superman’s race” Flash Gordon DOES NOT RUN FAST! *grumble*
  • I wonder how many people, looking for Flash villains, can’t find them because they’re looking for the Rouges instead of the Rogues.
  • Some Flash 246 Reviews: Comic Reviews, Major Spoilers, Comix 411, Comics Bulletin, Speed Force, and ComiXtreme.
  • Dropping Newsarama & CBR from Twitter in favor of RSS feeds. I see the headlines eventually anyway, and they just clutter up the timeline.
  • Added countdown timer for end of Flash and start of Flash:Rebirth. Unfortunatley it wants a specific day, so I picked April 30.
  • Final Crisis #5: The pieces have come together.
  • Latest Dan Didio 20 Questions talks about legacy vs. iconic versions of characters – and the 5th!? gen of heroes.
  • Mark Waid explains the Batman suit in the Flash ring (and answers lots of other questions).

Quick Thoughts: Twitter Through 2008-12-07

  • Watching Heroes: Longest. Eclipse. Ever.
  • I saw the Scott Pilgrim #5 cover somewhere yesterday, but didn’t know it had just been released.
  • Now that I think about it, it was probably just the Oni Press website.
  • Is it too much to ask of the new Blog@Newsarama crew to get titles right? Fallen Angel, not Dark Angel. Flashforward, not Fast Forward.
  • D’oh. Somehow missed the fact that comics are on Thurs this week. Thought it was only if Mon/Tues were holidays. When do they actually ship?
  • Possibly of interest: Fire Twirling with Farscape’s Chiana (Gigi Edgley).
  • And more Final Crisis delays: FC #6 pushed 2 weeks to Jan 14, FC:L3W pushed 1 week to Jan 21.
  • Probably not worth driving ~90 miles to San Diego for IDW’s sale on Sat. If it were NEXT week, when I’m going to SD anyway, I might drop by.
  • Wow. I’m actually seeing traffic from ComicSpace. I’ll have to drop in more often!
  • From the suggestion box on my Flash site: “the flash” Wow…I hadn’t thought of that. I really SHOULD add the Flash to my Flash site!
  • Just read Perhapanauts: Second Chances. Will have to read more of this.

  • Retweet: Blog@Newsarama contributor Carla Hoffman & her husband were injured & lost their home in this weekend’s fires
  • Read this weekend: Harley & Ivy TPB. Quite enjoyable & funny.
  • Heroes: *sigh* Eclipses do not work that way!
  • Also: Wondering how much fanfic has ALREADY filled in the gaps in the Sylar/Elle scene. Afraid to look, but I’m sure there’s megabytes of it
  • Goal for tonight: Finish enough of The Batman Season 5 writeup/review that I can send it back to Netflix tomorrow.
  • Best search-term misspelling yet: “wally the movie”
  • Tim Kring: will avoid time travel stories “at all costs.” What power would he most like to have? “Time travel.”
  • 90% done w/ Batman S5 review. 90% done w/ Lightspeed review. I think I’ll hold them for a bit & focus on the new Flash issue this week.
  • Today: Hit comic store at lunch, jot down 1st impressions, groceries after work, review new Flash, watch Pushing Daisies, dig out Flash DVDs
  • Titans readers: Does Raven still have her empathic healing powers?
  • I was a big fan of LEGION 89 back in the day, but can’t decide whether I’m interested in this new REBELS book.
  • New weirdest search term: “sumo wrestler comment blog:.org”
  • Trying to figure out how best to link site to Facebook. Yes, on Saturday night.
