DC Variant Covers Go All-Flash in January!
DC has announced the theme for January 2015’s variant covers, and in honor of the Flash’s 75th Anniversary, the theme is: The Flash!
Each of the 22 covers is an homage to a classic comic book cover, made a little…Flashier. And the variant for The Flash #38 is, appropriately enough, a Howard Porter take on Flash of Two Worlds!

Darwyn Cooke’s Variant Cover for Flash #37
Next up in DC Comics’ variant cover themes is, for some reason, not a subject or style, but an artist: Darwyn Cooke is doing landscape covers for a ton of DC’s December comics, including The Flash #37.
I first encountered Cooke’s retro 1950s-style art on the miniseries DC: The New Frontier, which I highly recommend. It links the appearance of super-heroes with the dawn of the Space Age, complete with the early Cold War and the societal upheaval going on at the time. Look for the collected edition or pick it up digitally.
Flash #36 LEGO Variant Cover
DC Comics has announced a slew of LEGO-themed variant covers for November 2014 to go with the launch of the game LEGO Batman 3: Beyond Gotham, releasing the images to various news sites. Nerdist has The Flash #36
Flash #34 Selfie Variant Cover
DC is doing a line-wide month of selfie variant covers in August, and Newsarama has posted the latest batch. This is the Flash #34 cover (click on the image for the full size), and it’s by Eddy Barrows and Eber Ferreira. I think it’s really fun, as are a lot of these! What do you guys think?
