Preview out for Flash #11

Newsarama has a 3-page preview of next week’s The Flash #11 featuring Heat Wave, written by Francis Manapul and Brian Buccellato with guest art by Marcus To and Ray McCarthy.

It looks like this version of Heat Wave is somewhere between Geoff Johns’ pyromaniac and Adam Glass’ full-on psychopath in Flashpoint: Legion of Doom (a portrayal I could do without ever seeing again) — a lot of it probably due to the fact that his power upgrade doesn’t seem to have worked out as cleanly as Captain Cold’s or Weather Wizard’s.

Also, I can’t stop seeing the fact that the splash page uses the STAR WARS lettering style.

Flash Secret Files and Origins

A group of character-focused comics blogs have gotten together for a crossover event featuring DC Comics’ Secret Files and Origins books:

Today’s event was organized by Diabolu Frank and Anj. We here at Speed Force missed this one (unless you count posting this cover at the last minute), but we’ve participated in a number of past crossovers with the same group, including the original Crisis on Earth-Blog highlighting the George Perez/Alex Ross cover for the collected Crisis on Infinite Earths, celebrating the Super-Powers 25th Anniversary, posing a piece of the DC Challenge, plugging lesser-known comics with Read This Too!, Mayfairstivus’ look back at the DC Heroes RPG, and most recently Animated Anthem Day.

Flash Annual Cover: More Revamped Rogues Revealed! (via Newsarama)

Francis Manapul and Brian Buccellato are featured in a new interview over at Newsarama where they discuss the title’s next steps on the road to the one-year mark of the New 52.  Within, the cover for the upcoming Flash Annual, due in September, is revealed.  It features the first looks at new versions of Mirror Master, Heat Wave and a re-imagined Golden Glider, alongside Captain Cold, Turbine and the new Weather Wizard, forming a Gauntlet of Super Villains for the New 52 Flash.
