Speed Force Fifth Anniversary Contest

Welcome to Speed Force’s fifth anniversary celebration! As part of the fun, we’re running another contest for Flash fans to participate in. And of course there will be prizes!

The idea is simple: just tell us why you like the Flash. Any Flash –- it can be Jay, Barry, Wally, Bart, or all of them (or even just the Flash as a concept). Or perhaps tell us about what he/they mean to you. You can write about it or draw it, whatever suits your talents, and we’ll post the entries after the contest is over. To enter, send your submission here.

The contest will run from Monday June 17 to Monday June 24, with a deadline of 11:50 PM Pacific Time. One entry per person, please. The five Speed Force writers (Kelson, Devin, Greg, Ed, and myself) will select our favourites from the submitted entries and award the prizes.

Good luck, and have fun!

UPDATED: Your Most-Anticipated Flash Comic for Villains Month!

Flash comics for Villains Month

DC Comics will be releasing three Flash villain comics in September: Grodd, Reverse Flash, and The Rogues. Which sounds most appealing to you?

Villains Month poll results pie chart: Reverse Flash, Rogues, Grodd.

Update: The results are in!

Reverse Flash is the clear winner with 46% of the vote. The Rogues is a close second, with 42%. Grodd, however, received only four votes of the 158 votes cast! More people than that (16, at 10%) want to just skip Villains Month entirely!

How about you? Which book are you most looking forward to, and why?

Flash #173 and the Mystery of the Shrinking Panels!

Flash #173, the full-length “Doomward Flight of the Flashes,” is an all-time classic tale of the DC multiverse by legendary writer John Broome and the great Carmine Infantino.  Featuring the three Flashes of the time in a dimension-leaping epic, this is pure Silver Age Flash in the Julius Schwartz tradition!  While reading a copy of the 1980 DC Blue Ribbon Digest #2, I was inspired by a panel on the final page, showing the three Flashes arriving back on Earth One:

The position of the figures in space and their different centers of gravity, as well as the solid city backdrop, give this a strange sense of motion fitting a return-trip from an alternate reality. It is deceptively simple and effective, and spurred me to pull a reprint.  That’s where things got a little weird…

Flash March Madness – and the Winner Is…

Flash March Madness is now complete, and the winner is…

The Reverse Flash, Eobard Thawne! It was a close race with Captain Cold, but in the end Thawne won the title. Thawne first appeared in 1963, so even at 50 he can outrun the Rogues who competed against him.

We do hope you have enjoyed Flash March Madness – and that you will stick around The Fastest Forum Alive now that this great event is over. Thanks to Speedster, who designed the event, and thanks to SpeedForce for allowing us to provide the updates throughout the contest. Finally, congrats to the Reverse Flash (that’s a phrase I never thought I’d write)…and thanks to all the fans who participated in Flash March Madness!

Flash March Madness Begins Championship Round!

The last match up in the Final Four of Flash March Madness is now in the books, and the results are:

Reverse Flash (Eobard Thawne) d. Mirror Master (Evan McCulloch)!

This means the Championship comes down to Captain Cold v. Reverse Flash!

Voting for the Championship will cover two days (Wednesday and Thursday), with the championship of Flash March Madness on the line! Who will earn Rogues supremacy? Your votes will decide!

As always, membership at The Fastest Forum Alive is free – and you can also login to vote with your Facebook, Twitter, Yahoo, or Windows Live account. Be sure to cast your vote in Flash March Madness!
