Minor Mobile Fix

Those of you who visit this site on your phones will be happy to see that I’ve fixed the problem where large images were being resized horizontally to fit on the screen, but not vertically. It adjusts both the width and height together now, so large images shouldn’t look squished anymore!

Tested on the Android Browser and Opera Mini, and tested in principle on desktop versions of Chrome, Firefox and Opera, so it should work on Safari/iPhone as well. (Mobile Internet Explorer doesn’t support the feature I was using, so it shouldn’t have been affected to begin with.)

So we just heard back from Arroba Silver and we finally have a winner for Speed Force and Arroba Silver’s Design and Win Your Own Flash Ring Contest. Please congratulate Joey Forlini on his sleek and stylish Flash ring design bringing home the gold. Or in this case, the silver:

Weekend Updates: Cover Variants and Urtumi

One of the things I wanted to do this weekend was finish going through the brief Adventure Comics run of The Flash (more about that tomorrow). In the process I decided I just had to write up the sheer weirdness that is Urtumi the Image Eater.

I also started tracking the variant covers from the new ongoing Flash series.

Well, I’d hoped to get more done this weekend, but other stuff has kept me busy…and now the Lost finale awaits!

Milestones: 300, 500, 1,000…4,000?

Speed Force has reached three milestones over the last few weeks:

  • 1,000 blog posts.
  • 500 followers on Twitter.
  • 300 Facebook fans.

Wow!

It seems like just a few months since I hit the 500th post, but it really was almost a year ago. For this post, I figured Ken Lashley’s cover to Flash: The Fastest Man Alive would be appropriate, because documenting the Flash is what this site is all about. (Thanks, GCD!)

The 1,000th blog post was last week’s post on action figure updates by Devin “The Flash” Johnson. The 500th Twitter follower was @ImpulseDesigner, though I seem to have lost a few since then — it’s down to 498 now. I’m not sure who the 300th Facebook fan was, though.

Thanks to all the readers, and thanks especially to Devin for stepping in as Speed Force’s second major contributor!

Oh, and there are two more milestones coming up soon: We’re closing in on 4,000 comments sometime in the next few weeks…and two full years online in mid-June!

Unfortunately due to unforeseen circumstances the Design and Win Your Own Flash Ring Contest will be ending at the end of the day, 4/19/2010. All entries must be in by 12:00am Pacific Time to be counted and sent on to ArrobaSilver for the final judging of the contest.
