Flash #29 preview is up – with new cover art!

Flash #29

Hero Complex has a preview of Flash #29 by Brian Buccellato, with Agustin Padilla taking over for Patrick Zircher, due in stores next week. In the conclusion of this three-part murder mystery, Flash and Deadman team up to find the supernatural Keystone Killer before he strikes again. It’s a mystery that may — or may not — answer the question of who really killed Barry Allen’s mother in the post-Flashpoint timeline.

This story and Forever Evil: Rogues Rebellion (also finishing next week) have been kind of a bonus round for the Francis Manapul/Brian Buccellato run on the character, as Manapul left after #25 to gear up for the duo to take over Detective Comics

Oh yeah, and there’s that Robot Chicken variant cover. They went with the Flashdance reference. Continue reading

Quick Flash TV Update: Two Supporting Cast Members to Appear on Arrow

The CW originally planned to make Arrow episode 2.20 into a back-door pilot for The Flash, bringing back Barry Allen from his two-episode guest spot and showing him after he gains super-speed. The network liked the character so much that they ordered the stand-alone pilot that’s currently in production.

But they’re still establishing background for the Flash spin-off, as two members of the supporting cast are confirmed for Arrow episode 2.19: Danielle Panabaker and Carlos Valdes will appear as Caitlin Snow and Cisco Ramon, scientists based on Killer Frost and Vibe from the comic books. (via FlashFans.org)

Update: THR has more information. Guggenheim explains that bringing in the S.T.A.R. Labs scientists keeps the Flash elements present in Arrow in a much more interesting way than showing Grant Gustin lying in a hospital bed with his eyes closed.

Flash vol.4 “Reverse” HC in August

Flash-22DC has announced their summer 2014 collected editions, including the August 13 release date for the hardcover edition of The Flash vol.4. (The paperback will be out next February).

THE FLASH VOL. 4: REVERSE HC
Written by FRANCIS MANAPUL and BRIAN BUCCELLATO
Art by FRANCIS MANAPUL, TOM NGUYEN and SCOTT HEPBURN
Cover by FRANCIS MANAPUL
On sale AUGUST 13 • 176 pg, FC, $24.99 US
In this new hardcover, a mysterious and powerful Speed-Force killer has left a trail of bodies in his wake, and only Barry has the power to stop him. But when the killer stays one step ahead of him, Barry finds himself face to face with the Teen Titans and Kid Flash for the first time, which leads to a confrontation with the Reverse Flash! Don’t miss these stories from THE FLASH #20-25, and #23.3: REVERSE FLASH!

The “Reverse Flash” one-shot from Villains Month is really the second-to-last chapter of the story, unveiling his origin in the midst of the battle with the Flash.

When first announced, this was also going to include the Grodd one-shot, but that has been moved to the Forever Evil: Rogues Rebellion collection. It makes a lot more sense there, both thematically and in terms of story (it takes place during the Rogues one-shot and sets up the condition of Central City during Rogues’ Rebellion).
