Colonel Sanders of Two Worlds!?

OK, this is up there with Archie vs. Sharknado for weird tie-in books. Apparently DC and KFC are having the Flash and Green Lantern deal with… the Colonel Sanders of Two Worlds.

I guess it makes sense, I mean, both of them are companies that use initials instead of spelling out the names. Totally the same, right?

ComicsBeat has preview pages for the comic, which will be released free at NYCC. Update You can read it for free at ComiXology. Captain Cold and Mirror Master team up with the Earth-3 Colonel Sanders. I am not making this up.

Though if they were going to go for the title reference, couldn’t they have tried to make the cover look like the classic Flash of Two Worlds?

DC Variant Covers Go All-Flash in January!

DC has announced the theme for January 2015’s variant covers, and in honor of the Flash’s 75th Anniversary, the theme is: The Flash!

Each of the 22 covers is an homage to a classic comic book cover, made a little…Flashier.  And the variant for The Flash #38 is, appropriately enough, a Howard Porter take on Flash of Two Worlds!

Flash #27 Preview and Scribblenauts Variant Cover

Nerdist has a preview of The Flash #27, the first of a three-part story by writer Brian Buccellato and artist Patrick Zircher. Pasqual Ferry provides the cover for the issue, due in stores next week.

The summary has the Flash facing “a mystical serial killer who might be responsible for his mother’s murder,” but the preview focuses on a jewelry heist by Chroma (an updated Rainbow Raider) and Tar Pit.

(For those wondering about the presence of one of the villains, remember that everything up through #29 takes place before Forever Evil.)

Also included in the preview is the Scribblenauts variant cover, a riff on the classic Showcase #4 — the first appearance of Barry Allen.

DC Comics has released a preview of Earth 2 #19, including the Scribblenauts variant cover…one which should look very familiar to Flash fans:

It’s an homage to the classic Flash #123 cover, featuring Barry Allen and Jay Garrick…but this time it’s their New 52 versions as seen through the Scribblenauts style.

Round insignia on chest? Check.

I first saw this ad for movietickets.com with 3:10 To Yuma a few years back. You may have seen it. He’s trying to impress his date by running and buying the tickets for their movie while they’re still at dinner. The show’s sold out, but it turns out she’s already bought the tickets online. Amazingly, they’ve got the video clip online…

I haven’t been quite sure what to do with it, since I’m not ready to start in on listing every parody of the Flash to ever appear in media.

Hmm, now that I think about it, the Blur in that Baby Ruth commercial back in the 90s was blue, too.

Flash #7 Variant Cover by Darwyn Cooke

DC’s blog, The Source, has revealed Darwyn Cooke’s variant cover for The Flash #7. It’s an homage to the classic first appearance of the Reverse-Flash in the 1963 Flash #139 (cover via GCD).

It’s a fantastic cover, both in its own right and as an homage…but I think it would be a better fit for the following issue, which actually focuses on Professor Zoom, rather than this one, which is a spotlight on Captain Boomerang.
