Free Fall In Scarlet or You Will Believe A Flash Can Fall! (Skydiving 04/27/2015)

“Free Fall In Scarlet” or “You Will Believe A Flash Can Fall!”

Hey Speed Readers/Viewers

So a few weeks back I celebrated my 30th birthday and to mark the special occasion I decided to try my hand at skydiving. Of course being Flash Johnson I couldn’t simply jump out of a plane…I had to do it in style! So to that end I decided to rock my brand new, CW Flash suit 2.0, with my favorite
Flashy footwear, my Adidas Wings 2.0. I figured they were more than appropriate for what I was doing and I didn’t want to ruin my slick new Flash boots.

Why skydiving? Well, after reading the William Messner-Loebs penned The Flash v2 #54, “Nobody Dies” (aka “Free Fall in Scarlet!”) many, many years ago I got it in my head that I needed to jump out of a plane in a frackin’ Flash suit.

SPEED FORCE (the comic) #2 – Review

Convergence: Speed Force #2This tie-in to CONVERGENCE moves to issue #2, with one more look at the Wally West pre-FLASHPOINT fans know and love. This was actually a stronger issue than #1, with a conclusion as good as one could hope for in this CONVERGENCE battle-world setting. Just how does Wally fare against the FLASHPOINT Wonder Woman?

New Trailer For “Rogue Air”

The CW has now released a full-minute trailer for next week’s episode of The Flash, and it’s chock full of new scenes and spoilers (so you’ll have to decide if you want to watch it). It’ll be the second-last episode of the season.

What do you think? I’m looking forward to it!

“Legends of Tomorrow” Officially Picked Up

The new CW series which spins out of The Flash and Arrow will apparently be titled “Legends of Tomorrow” and has been officially ordered by the network despite not yet having a pilot episode. It will have the same showrunners as its parent shows, and will include Flash characters Captain Cold and Heat Wave (and Martin Stein) amongst the characters. The Hollywood Reporter has more details.

The series’ formal logline:

“When heroes alone are not enough … the world needs legends. Having seen the future, one he will desperately try to prevent from happening, time-traveling rogue Rip Hunter is tasked with assembling a disparate group of both heroes and villains to confront an unstoppable threat — one in which not only is the planet at stake, but all of time itself. Can this ragtag team defeat an immortal threat unlike anything they have ever known?”

I’m cautiously optimistic about this, and definitely want to see more Cold and Heat Wave. So I’m looking forward to it right now. How about everyone else?

This Week in Flash Comics: Convergence Speed Force, Digital Flash Annuals of the 1980s, Season Zero

A new chapter in Flash Season Zero featuring King Shark and the Suicide Squad came out on Monday.

Tuesday of course saw “Grodd Lives” on the TV show.

Today, the conclusion of the two-part Convergence: Speed Force is out. Pre-Rebirth Wally West and the twins — plus the Zoo Crew’s Fastback — face off against Flashpoint’s Wonder Woman. Gamma Squad has a preview of the issue.

DC has finally gotten back to adding Flash comics to the digital backlist. This week they’ve added the 1987 and 1988 Flash Annual #1 and Annual #2 from Wally West’s series. The first places Wally in a Kung Fu style adventure where he must learn to control the “death touch.” The second has him dealing with his father, recently outed as a Manhunter agent, as he takes on a shady job as a private detective. (Plus: Wally wears a Devo T-shirt, if that’s the sort of thing you find interesting.)
