Please Check This Site in Your Phone!

A quick request, if I may: If you have a web-capable cell phone, would you please try to view this blog in it and let me know how it appears? I’m testing some plugins that should optimize the page for desktop, low-end mobile, and high-end mobile devices.

Please look at the main page and at least one post, then leave a comment below (still on the phone if you can) with the following:

  • What phone are you using? (RAZR, iPhone, etc. Specific model if you know it)
  • Can you load the site at all? (If not, what error do you get?)
  • Does it look like..
    1. The desktop version of the site (red background, lightning banner, full sidebar, complete posts on main page)
    2. A bare-bones page (plain background, mostly text, headlines only on main page, “Powered by WordPress. WordPress Mobile Edition” listed at the bottom of the page)
    3. A sleeker-looking list (grayish background, each post headline in a white rectangle, calendar image next to each headline, main page has headlines that expand to excerpts, dark red banner across top, “Powered by WordPress with WPtouch” listed in footer)
  • Are you using the built-in web browser, or something you installed (Opera Mini, for example)?
  • Did anything not work?

If you can’t post a comment, please try one of the following:

  • Bring up the site on your computer to leave the comment.
  • Send me a Twitter direct message to @SpeedForceOrg.
  • Email me at speedforce – [at] – pobox – [dot] – com.

I’m mainly trying to make sure that the detection code is working right, since I’ve got 3 different plugins (WPTouch, WordPress Mobile Edition and WP Super Cache) working together to manage it.

Thanks in advance!

This Week (Feb 11): Titans, Booster Gold, Etc

Booster Gold #17

Written by Dan Jurgens
Art and cover by Dan Jurgens & Norm Rapmund

Featuring an “Origins and Omens” backup story! Part 3 of the 4-part “Reality Lost” arc finds Booster Gold transported back to a seminal day in the history of The Flash! Here’s a hint: it has to do with a bolt of lightning and a chemical bath!

32 pg, FC, $2.99 US

Titans #10

Written by Judd Winick
Art and cover by Howard Porter

Featuring an “Origins and Omens” backup story! It’s Titans vs. the JLA! In the aftermath of DCU: DECISIONS #4, the JLA wants Jericho, but the Titans don’t give up on one of their own. In the end, though, it looks like they’ll lose another member!

32 pg, FC, $2.99 US

Super Friends #12

Yo-ho, me hearties! The Super Friends have never faced a challenge like this before! What will they do when confronted with the menace of Starro and the Pirates?

32 pg, FC, $2.50 US

Also likely: Trinity #37.

Rumor: Scott Porter as The Flash? How about Neil Patrick Harris?

A quick note: Think McFly Think reports that Scott Porter (Friday Night Lights) is in the running for the Flash Movie. (via @SpeedsterSite)

The post says that there are two actors under consideration at this point, but doesn’t speculate as to the second actor.

Update: Screen Rant is calling Neil Patrick Harris as the other actor under consideration. Harris has experience with the super-hero genre, starring not only as the titular villain in Dr. Horrible’s Sing-Along Blog, but as the voice of Barry Allen himself in last year’s animated Justice League: New Frontier (reviewed here). (via Fused Film)

Since DC has been busy re-positioning Barry Allen as the main Flash, it’s a safe bet at this point that the movie will star Barry.

Geoff Johns on Flash:Rebirth (Video Interview at Newsarama)

Newsarama interviewed Geoff Johns about Flash: Rebirth at New York Comic-Con. I won’t be able to watch this with sound until I get home tonight, so I don’t know if there’s really anything new in here.

Update: They also have an interview with George Pérez about Legion of Three Worlds.

Creator Catch-Up: Waid, Guggenheim, Van Sciver, Acuña, Infantino

Mark Waid‘s all over the place. CBR has two interviews: First he talks about Irredeemable, then at NYCC he unveils The Unknown, a 4-issue miniseries described as “What if Doc Savage were written by David Lynch?” and adds more details on Irredeemable. There’s also a bit about his Spider-Man arc, “24/7” with Mike McKone, and Newsarama writes about Irredeemable

Geoff Johns was all over New York Comic-Con, but the biggest announcement was the confirmation that he’ll write Adventure Comics with Francis Manapul on art. (Johns’ role in the book has been suspected since the new series was announced, given that he’s spent the last year and a half re-establishing the pre-Crisis version of the Legion of Super-Heroes in Justice Society of America, Action Comics, and Final Crisis: Legion of Three Worlds.)

SILive’s article on New york Comic-Con profiles Silver-Age Flash co-creator Carmine Infantino.

IGN interviews Marc Guggenheim about his Green Lantern movie script.

Newsarama interviews Daniel Acuña.

Ethan Van Sciver explains his theory linking US political shifts to the popularity of Werewolves and Zombies vs. Vampires and Aliens in pop culture.

Quick Thoughts: Twitter Through 2009-02-08

  • Whoa… Just noticed I broke 1000 posts at ComicBloc sometime last week!
  • Thank you, WordPress Autosave! (Updated a post and forgot to save it before closing the tab.)
  • #Comiccon buzz is all NYCC, but I wonder when SDCC will even ANNOUNCE hotel availability. Last year they went on SALE 1st week of February
  • Legion of Three Worlds 5 pushed to May 13 according to DC Direct Channel. L3W 4 comes out March 25. Issue 3 comes out tomorrow.
  • Appropriate: “Ballad of Barry Allen” during rush hour. “Seems so slow” indeed.
  • Anyone going to NYCC, please let me know if you make any cool Flash finds!
  • Wow, who would’ve thought the person in the Lightning Rod was actually Jack Kirby!
  • Just kidding of course. As I’m sure you all know by now, it was the DCU’s Grant Morrison in the lightning rod.
  • Bought this week: Buffy, Legion of 3 Worlds, Farscape, House of Mystery, Dynamo 5, Scott Pilgrim
  • Remind me not to read the comments section on Newsarama. I always end up depressed about humanity. Or at least comics fans.
  • Decisions, decisions: read Scott Pilgrim v.5 tonight, or wait until I have time to reread v.1-4? Guess it depends on whether I can FIND v1-4
  • Amusing: EVS links US political shifts to whether Werewolves & Zombies or Vampires & Aliens are popular
  • Flash:Rebirth Preview from NYCC
  • Remembering something Geoff Johns said at SDCC 2006 abt how his main regret from his time on Flash was leaving the book
  • NYCC: Mark Waid is doing a 4-issue miniseries called “The Unknown” described as Doc Savage by way of David Lynch
  • Newsarama & CBR are slow. Twitter’s seeing SMS delays. Coincidence? Or NYCC?
  • Following DC Nation at NYCC via Twitter, CBR, and Newsarama
  • Catching up on NYCC News: Wildstorm: More Astro City! More Tranquility!
