Spotted this last week on my lunch break. Sorry about the image quality: it was backlit, all I had was my phone, and to top it of, my windshield needed to be cleaned. (We’d had one of those rains a few days earlier that drops just enough water to rearrange the dirt, but no more. I got to it after work that day.)
Okay, so maybe the question itself is a bit of a cheap shot, but with the number of times issues #4–6 have been rescheduled, it seems a fair question. At this time, Flash: Rebirth #6 is scheduled for December 23, 2009, just five weeks after issue #5 comes out. But with 3-month gaps between issues #3, #4 and #5, it’s certainly not hard to imagine the schedule might slip again.
In the end, 79 people responded to the poll asking which upcoming Flash series had them most excited.
The breakdown is interesting: Nearly half (47%) are looking forward most to the upcoming Flash monthly series, which launches (in theory) sometime next March. Almost a fourth each are most interested in the Blackest Night: Flash miniseries launching in December (22%) and the Kid Flash ongoing that will launch “about a month” after Flash.
That leaves 9% who have actually been turned off of the comics by Flash: Rebirth.
Early on, one reader pointed out to me that while The Flash will have two features — a lead feature starring Barry Allen and a second feature starring Wally West — they’re not separated in the poll options. Well, I guess this poll can’t be used to gauge interest in a particular character….

They’ve also put together a list of the top 10 “Most Ridiculous Villains We Could Think Of”. Two Flash villains — the Turtle and Double Down — make the cut alongside such classics as Starro the Conqueror, Polka Dot Man, and Turner D. Century. (I am not making this up.)

It got me thinking about commercial applications of super-speed. Not something that turns up often in the super-hero genre, but it shows up occasionally. Kapitalist Kouriers is the first one that comes to mind. They were a trio of Soviet defectors who decided to sell their services as couriers and, from time to time, heroes for hire.
